First European Trip

Hi all,

I'm riding with some friends to Sachsenring, Germany from the UK for the MotoGP round there. Can anyone recommend some good roads on the way?

Cheers

Carl

You could travel more or less along the Rhine to Koblenz, cut across somehow north of Frankfurt and then keep between the A4 and A70 motorways. Stick to minor roads. This area is fairly mountainous with lots of winding roads. Called "Thueringer Wald", meaning Thueringer Forest.

Thumbs up Mosel river!

You could pass the Nurburgring race track, then the Mosel river to the Rhine river, then Rüdesheim area and further on to the east, passing the Lahn river to the Wartburg castle to the east, more or less..... Sorry, right no time for more explaining....

Nice biker Hotel:

Real Meeting point, not on my route:

villa loewenherz , the have a website.

At the Mosel river:

Tourenfahrer Hotel in Klotten,Mosel

Have fun!

Thanks for all of your tips!

We were planning on going from Calais to Sachsenring in a day as Google maps thought the journey would take 7 or 8 hours. I've since realised that not only would we be very tired we would also miss all of the great roads on the way.

It is looking like we should maybe spend 2 days on the way out to really appreciate our little adventure.

We have no choice for the trip back, we have to get from the circuit to Calais, by 6pm, and that's after celebrating on the Sunday night!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
