Good mechanic for centering and balancing front wheel of my 650 GS Dakar in Italy
Hello Folks!
I don't know where to post this question properly, so I'll try here.
A few days ago, before coming to Rome I had a 360° rollover sidewards while I was doing offroad on a hill. Nothing really broke at the bike, what suprise!!!
But now the bike is going to drive a little to the left always and my steering lever shakes very much at 40 and 60 km/h.
I have been to a "scooter" workshop (because got told to go there...) but they said here in Rome nobody can fix this, except one place and this is crowed very much, you have to wait several days...
Only one place in the entire city of Rome????
Does anybody has good suggestions where to go, becuase I know it needs a lot of experience for centering the front wheel and its rim again.
I hope sbdy. can help me??? Even if not in Rome, I want to move northwards, so maybe further North around Bologna or somewhere else?
I hope I can get some usefull advices.
Thanks Alex

Thank you for the quick response.
I have already been to the BMW dealer in Viareggio and the mechanic told me to drive beside a wall and knock the wheel against it, while turning the lever....
So you can guess that I was really "impressed" by the specialists...
I did the centering job once before in Austria. I was told to go to an old guy who owned an independent bike workshop and he was great!!
Either way, I guess I will try the next one on your list and ask!
Thank you very much again!!
Ciao Alex

Hi, I can recommend a great wheel specialist, only problem is that he's in Trieste. With all the bikes around here I really doubt that it's THAT hard to find someone around Bologna. Have you tried the HU comunities?

I will try in Bologna! Trieste is on my way, so if don't find anyone within the next, I would like to go to this one...

Well...feel free to PM me....there's a wheel specialist (good but not cheap), there's also an incredibly helpful BMW dealer nearby... I'm talking about near Trieste where I live.
Just a thought about Bologna though, there are still a lot of small old-fashioned bicycle repair shops where they true spoked wheels, and could probably help. It's also a much smaller and less chaotic city, where there are far more scooters than cars. There's also a BMW bike dealer just outside the center, if I remember correctly; might also be worth a try.
Let me know if I can help with comunicating, no problem to call and explain what you need if you're in trouble. Ciao
