HELP!!! Greece today - Turkey tommorrow with no V5c????? Oh, and any news on istanbul

I'm currently in Alexandropoli, having driven from Corfu this moring, and was hoping to cross into Turkey tommorrow but in my haste I have forgotten my V5!!!
School boy error I know but these things happen. Whats more is that the mother in law was visiting us last week and I'm kicking myself, I should have got her to bring it out!!!.

Choices
1 - Chance it without it???
2 - Print out a scan double side ect and try and blagg it.
3 - get it fed-ex'd to me for tuesday but this completely ruins my schedual and budget (it's been raining here and camping is out the question!!!).

any ideas?????

And while I'm here, Any news on Istanbul??? flooded last time I heard and I was wondering if it's still worth visiting at such a tradgic time or pass through and do it when/if my iran visa is issued.

with no V5, you are very unlikely to be let in Turkey- they checked my frame number against my V5 when I went.
IMHO, you are better staying at a nice (drier) !! campsite in Greece for it. this is a great one that has awnings- here N40.84559 E25.85518 it's in Alexandropouli near the Shell station
You could print out a really high res. colour copy and get it laminated and try but personally I'd wait for the original one.
Istanbul is def. worth a visit- the Blue Mosque will take your breath away campsite coords above- pic below
Weather for Istanbul
Sat & Sunday= rain
Monday Tuesday= sunshine

Chance it - we came through there and are now in India. I have not had to show V5 once anywhere. I havent even shown a licence. All I have had to show is Carnet and they wont even ask for that in Turkey. Good luck.

We chanced it!!!
My theory was, The V5 wouldn't be posted till monday so if we went with a colour photo copy and had a go all we would loose is petrol!
And it worked!!! with a bit of shrugging my shoulders and saying 'but this is ok in england'!!!
Anyhow, reached Istanbul and broke down.
All part of the fun huh!
Thanks for your input guys!!!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
