Importing a bike to denmark
I'm currently living in New Zealand but will be moving to denmark in the near future.
I'm looking at a.bike that's currently in the.uk (I'm English and my wife is danish)and taking it to denmark.
The bike is a bmw xchallenge currently for sale for around £3500 or 35000dkr,2007,38000kms,average condition
When I plug in the numbers for the asking price I get a registration fee of around 15000dkr
after a bit of reading i understand what i pay for the bike is of no importance its what the bike is worth in denmark that decides the payment-i've only found 2 for sale and they are 3 times the price!i'm trying to use this worksheet -Vis køretøjsvurderinger- on the skat website to determine a value(wife translating)but i get zero results, any suggestions from the danes out there?

anyone?
further reading suggests if there are no comparable bikes then you take the new price and deduct 58% to find a value now
anyone happen to know what the cost of an xchallenge was in 2007? i've had no success on google and bmw in denmark weren't much help
cheers

The registration fee sounds about right, a bit cheap in my limited experience. I met some Danes in 2003 in Norway and learned about their 200% luxury tax on bikes. A new, top of the range H-D was £16,500 in the UK at the time, in Denmark the same bike was £49,500. I asked if there was any advantage to be gained from importing and they told me by the time you'd got the bike road legal there was no benefit.
