London to Spain? Italy? this weekend?!?
Hi there!
I'm just north of London, and have a couple of weeks off. Any advice regarding a motorcycle trip from London to Southern Spain this time of year? Routes? Does anyone do this in Europe in the winter? I see some bikes cruising around here, but i think they are mostly commuting locally....
Cheers
Jay

It'll be ok if you've got a full on tourer with fairing etc and winter spec, pref elecric, clothing.
I'd head straight down the French autoroute to the Med and then follow that coast down through Spain.
If you're going in the next few days it'll be around 5C with wet roads all through France so if you've got a naked bike or a traillie think cold till you're south of the Pyrenees.
It's a long way! 2000 miles each way.

go for it
i am just coming back to london, on a TTR600 yamaha.
been away to italy over christmas... and enjoyed the alps with snow, passes, cold, etc etc
it's hard, it's physically demanding, but totally worth it.
absolutely gorgeous scenarios.
europe is very white with snow at the moment (over the past few weeks, i've been to france, germany, austria switzerland, italy)
cold and very foggy pretty much everywhere...
don't worry about electrical heating and stuff like that... if you cover up yourself with good equipment, it's all fine... and if the finger tips get cold sometimes... it's time to stop for a hot tea or chocolate!
enjoy your ride... there are not many of us out there in this season.
on my whole trip i've never met a single biker yet! rather disappointing, really.
if you go tomorrow... i will see you going the opposite direction on your way to dover and i finally wave to someone(!)
go for it mate... it's too easy motorbike just in the summer.
let us know how it goes.
what bike do you ride? (in case i see you!)
