This is great news. I went to Norway last summer on my bike and it was truely amazing. I only saw one other UK motorcycle and I guess that's because you have to go via Denmark. Now it'll be more direct and more bikers can experience the amazing roads of Norway

I am not sure if this is confirmed. Article was posted 7th Nov when this was still apparantly under discussion.
This would be great for me as I live 2 hours from the port.
Anyone confirm?

Englandsbåten
Still not confirmed
Full forvirring om englandsbåten - Bergens Tidende
Different representatives of the company are giving different details. Could be a marketing stratagy to whip in venture capital, or could just be wishfull thinking. Could also be that these people should not be trusted with a peddleboat on a lake.
I can't understand how one could loose money on a UK - Norway service, but it probably too seasonable, and airfares are very cheap for tourists.
Fingers crossed
Peter, in Oslo

There's nothing on the Port of Tyne website about this and I suspect there would be if it was true. When I contacted them about the possibility of reintroducing the route they said the issue was lack of freight business demand to make it viable. There is plenty of passenger demand but that seemingly is not enough to make it a goer.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
