Norway - Stavanger - Engine problem PLEASE HELP

Hi

I am about 50 km outside of Stavanger and my engine has no power anymore. I guess it could be the clutch...

I need your help for:

- Anybody willing to help translating
or
- Anybody with knowledge with motorcycle
or
- Anybody with some tools and a garage that we can fix it

Please help

For anyone to be able to begin to help you, you need to say what motorcycle you have (model/year etc) and any additional symptoms
i.e does the engine turn over but dies on acceleration
Can you click it into gear but the motorcycle does not move?
etc etc etc
The more details you put up, the more your chances of being offered some possible ideas/solutions.
Looking at previous posts, it seems you have a Kawasaki KLE 500 is that right?

Ok sorry for the short post.

Kawasaki KLE 500
Year 1998
Km 35'000

Soooo finally after one day of phonecalls and talking to my insurance I finally got the motorcycle to Stavanger to a Kawasaki Mechanic. Bad luck for me its Friday evening.... Well that means waiting for monday.
The mechanic said according to my symptoms that I might be the clutch. He will look at it tomorrow eventually and tell me.
How much time / working hours can be fair (additional the tourist bonus)?
I just want to have a little price idea... What costs the working hour here in norway?

Additional information: The transportation of my motorcycle 58km took 4 hours (yes so many phonecalls with my insurance) and costs around 900-1000 US dollar.... Amazing right? Well my insurance will cover that.



Symptoms: It startet 2 days ago: When after 6000 rpm the rpm just went up fast up to 9'000 but there was no power coming (as usual). Then this started at 4000RPM. About 1 km later I barely can get away and I only have power at 3000 RPM. Then about 500 meters later the bike cannot be move a little road going uphill.
I can put in the first gear and the bike will break, cannot move it.

Oil is there, the cable of the clutch seems fine, the engine sounds as usual...


Thanks for all your help. I might call that mechanic on monday to know what he tells me...

Hehe, tourist bonus is not common in Norway, it just feels that way when you get the bill.

I changed the clutch on my KTM (different bike, similar type of clutch) and used 2.5 hours. 1.5 hours dismantling the clutch, inspecting parts and cleaning and 1 hour to assemble it.
I'm not familiar with your bike and it might take longer.

If you have your bike at Stahlen MC they charge 950 NOK (150$/120€).
When I changed the clutch (steel plates and friction disks, not the springs) on my KTM the parts was around 125€, but sadly I would expect the Kawa-parts to be more expensive.
The bad news is that you might have to end up waiting for the parts for a while, but the weather should be okay now.

Sounds like a clutch-problem. It might work to change the oil, cook the plates and shim the springs, but I'm not sure if I would recommend it. If you are going east or north you will meet quite a few mountains.
