Paphos, Cyprus, somewhere to stay
My other half and I are going to Cyprus in September for a wedding. Unfortunately the wedding is happening in Paphos, and I'm really struggling to find any sort of accommodation that isn't nasty sun-seeking could-be-any-resort-in-the-world stuff . We won't have the bikes, and ideally don't want to have to hire a car.
We'll be with friends, so if anyone knows of a 3-bed villa in Paphos that has some sort of appeal to independent travellers, I would be very grateful - my parents lived in Nicosia for 5 years, and asking them for help just got a "we tried to avoid Paphos if at all possible". Not helpful!
Thanks!

Funny.
I was in Pathos for a wedding in June 2010. I missed Ripley to go.
What a shit hole !!!!
You will REALLY struggle to find anything which isn't tacky, ex pat or sun seeking family holiday orientated.
My advice is stay as short as possible.
On a positive note, you can hire bikes, quads, scooters etc for quite cheap and go and explore the Adonis pools and gravel roads etc.
That will stop the suicide pangs for a few hours until you get back to your hotel where they will no doubt be doing an Elvis Karaoke night !
Good luck !!

Hello Laura,
If you stay in the tourist area and in a cheap hotel you will get the Elvis karaoke nights. I think is better if you stay in Coral Bay area which is 15 minutes from Paphos, there are a lot of villas to rent and a regular bus service to Paphos . If you rent motorcycles there are great routes and places to go. Below you can see few.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
