I don't know of anywhere in France but how about Switzerland - i've rented loads of stuff from these guys and they service my GS.
www.arrigoni.ch - in zürich
can get expensive though, looking at 50-100USD a day, is cheaper for longer rentals, limit 300km a day.
They rent BMWs and Suzukis

Here's another rental source in Zurich, they service my ST1100 so I can vouch for them, the motorcycles they rent are in perfect condition and all less than one year old: Heidelberger Honda Center. I will say without hesitation that this is the finest Honda dealer in the world, I won't let anyone else service my motorcycle.
Being Swiss, they are expensive, but you certainly do get what you pay for. I was given a Hornet 900 (free) from the rental fleet last month when my ST was in for routine service, and the Hornet only had 71 km total on it when they gave it to me.
They have some off road bikes, but mainly specialize in street bikes. Note that you get a 20% rate reduction from the daily rates if you rent for 6 days or more. The people there are very pleasant, it is a family business. Mr. Heidelberger himself speaks English, but if you do any written or telephone contact with the company, best to do it in German or French, which is what everyone else speaks.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
