hi, glad i found your site again.stuck in egypt eh, i recently heard that the egyptian minister for tourism publicly berated his country,s custom,s official,s for putting many tourist,s off returning to egypt due to their over officious nature. it seems that they are even ignoring their own government ministers ! perhaps he forgot to make his complaint in writing, in triplicate,on the correct grade of paper, and addressed to the correct office !!! ha ha . glad i can follow your journey again on your site ,there are some great pic,c there . ps do you need a carnet to enter egypt ? . good luck with the rest of the journey.

Thanks!
Yup - carnet essential. The officials here don't seem to appreciate how expensive it is though; mine disappeared for 1/2 a day and I had to cause a scene to get it back!
Form, money, go here, go there, pink slip, receipt, money, form, wrong colour paper, etc etc for EIGHT DAYS! Apparently it's easier at Saloum and Nuweiba - one day max. Problem for me was that bike arrived under seperate cargo consignment...

To enter in Egypt with my motorcycle I spent 2 hours on the Lybian side of the border and 5 hours on the Egyptian side. The border was Saloum.
To leave Egypt, we took the ferry-boat to Aqaba from Nuweiba and there we spent some 3 hours at the Egyptian border. Only one hours to enter Jordan.
The trip was made in 2002.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
