Scotland to Istanbul
I've long been planning a trip from the Highlands of Scotland (home) to Istanbul. The route is Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Istanbul. Returning via Greece and Italy. Ferries are booked and much money has been spent on the bike (Honda CBF1000) and equipment. Only trouble now is that I'm having problems finding insurance cover! Anyone got experience of this and recommendations? :confused1::confused1:
Regards,
Joe

Hi Joe,
If you look back through earlier threads, there is quite a bit of discussion of insurance in that neck of the woods.

Hi Joe,
I think that most of the Europeans major insurance company's covered Bulgaria,as a part of EC now.For Turkey you can buy insurance exactly at the border.
If you have further questions for Bulgaria, please just drop me a line!
Cheers,
Simon

I always organise my ordinary bike insurance through Carole Nash. As a broker, they have always managed to find me insurers with good foreign insurance policies. Insured through them I got insurance which covered me for the whole of EU Europe including Hungary, and got Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey added on to my insurance for a trip no problem. I can't remember who they insured me with but I guess if you gave them a call they'd be able to help you out. It might mean you have to cash in your current insurance, however, which will entail a financial penalty.
Matt

Carole Nash
Carole Nash have come up trumps with the insurance through Norwich Union. It's a bit pricey but the cover is more important than the price on this kind of trip.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
