Shipping motorbike from Panama to Ireland...paperwork...?

Hey folks, just a quick question about shipping....
I'm just about to ship my bike from Panama to Ireland, where I'm from and where I'll keep it, but it's an USA-registered bike. Now, I'm wondering what the hell I need to do to get this bike into Ireland. Delivery is fine, I have that sorted, and the bike will leave in a couple of days, but I don't get back for a few more weeks. What will happen to my bike once it reaches Ireland? What will I have to do to get my bike out of customs there?? The shipping agents have no idea about what happens on the other end, and I really have no clue about this sort of thing folks, and the fact I'll be arriving much later has me wondering about what'll happen to the bike. Any and all information will be appreciated folks....

The Link below has good information on what you need to do to import/register a bike in ireland. It does state that you have 7 days to do this, though in my experience, this is not strictly enforced.I would expect though that there will be storage charges(outside of the registration costs) to cover the length of time they have it until you can pick it up.

Hey there Fledermaus, cheers for the help here. Anyway, I'm back safe and sound with my bike here too, all is good. As for how I got on, well, I got hit for VAT off of customs up in Dublin Airport, which I didn't think I would, to the tune of EU3,000. Was a bit of a kick in the arse, as I'd looked into it and had been told I would be fine as I've owned the bike about 8 months. Anyway, what can you do, it is done now, and my baby is safe and sound. I'll be putting the full shipping details, company, etc, in the shipping/transport section. See you on the road some day boi!!!!!

Oh, p.s., Any tips for me of roads over in the Cork/Kerry region you'd be recommending??

Panama to Ireland shiping cost?

Hi,

I cant seem to find the details of previous shipments, Panama to Ireland.

My flight is on the 14/08/12 and all I have to date
are a couple of sky high quotes.

What cargo company did you use and how much did they charge?

Do you think I will have a problem with customs if I try to leave before my bike, even if a cargo company has possession of my bike?

Thanks.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
