Is their an age limit for temporary import of vehicle into turkey?

Was reading in recent vw campervan mag that a couple were told at the border that their van would need a turkish vehicle test because it was over fifteen years old. Is their any legislation on this? They were only let in after pleading with them and paying 120 euros and that the vehicle was barred from entering again. how do you get test if they won't let you in?

1-Since April 22,its nomore called temporary import in Turkey. Road vehicles for personal use and there is no age limit.3 weeks ago more than 150 antique cars was here from Paris. All vehicles which have local legal documents and permissions to be on road are let in.(Int.agreement by E.U.)
2-All formalities in the customs and bordergates are free. You have to pay only for the insurance (private company)and none of the customs officers has the power to collect money at the borders.Even you have punishments, or to import goods, you will be given a written report and time to pay it in a Turkish tax office available in all towns. If anything is paid, go and show the receipt(if there is any) to the manager(written Müdür on his door) before you leave the area so that an operation against bribery can be done.
3-Here is the link to Turkish Customs Ministry for information about vehicles and contact details.

TIP...:
If you meet that kind of bribery game, say moment pls.,then make a telephone call to a friend, then tell that you have just called this office and what you are told is wrong and he can call too if not believed..

Three weeks ago Jonathan (NL) has done so to enter Turkey by 23 years old bike and now travelling in Turkey.

This is the second time I've met this subject since my life about entering to Turkey by vehicle.

Wish you all the best.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
