Is there a ferry from (east) turkey to Italy?
Hi there,
I need some help:
does anyone knows of a ferry somewhere in the east of turkey to Italy?
I'm coming from Iran, driving to Germany, but wanted to take a shortcut by boat from turkey, but if possible NOT from Istanbul.
Anybody with some helpful tips?
If there isn't a ferry from east turkey, maybe there is one from Israel or Lebanon, is there?
I have already searched the hubb, but unfortunately I could not find anything.
Any help is very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Phil

there are ferries from Turkiye to Italy in Cesme, Izmir which is in west of Turkiye. Unfortunatelly no ferry from east of Turkiye. but what you can do is, get the train in Tehran, Iran to Ankara and then ride from Ankara to Izmir (560 Km) and get the ferry there. Cesme is about 1 hours away from Izmir.
there are some post on hubb about ferry from Israel to Greece. do a decent search about it.
for ferry from Cesme to Italy check:
ML Marmara Lines: Autofähren in die Türkei
hope this helps.

replying to your PM here as i am too much of a newb to be allowed to send a PM.
I did not take the ferry but rode home...didn't want to miss the fun. The ride report is here:
A ride from London to the Red Sea (and back) - ADVrider
However there is a ferry from Ashdod to UK. I don't know where it stops but it costs c 500 euro for a bike to go to UK

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
