Trail riding on the Isle of Man
Good Afternoon Chaps & Chapesses,
I fancy taking my trusty Serow over to the Isle of Man for a couple of days trail riding. I'm sure a few of our group will have done the same and wonder if anyone knows of any routes/do's & don'ts/groups etc that could aid my journey?
I'll be travelling alone so only want to use gentle trails, rather than the tricker ones!
Also any recommended camping sites would be good.
I spent TT week down in Castletown but didn't have my bike with me and find that I'm compelled to return!
Regards

Isle of Man
Hi, not at home at the moment but will post up the name etc of a very good map for IOM trails asap. There is a good campsite at Glen Loch(Glen Vine) or the one in Peel (following the TT course turn left at Douglas Road corner) Glynn Whillan(sp), great trails The only 'major' one I and others had severe probs with was the one on the west of the Island that exited(starts!) at Glen Maye. Will post more later.

Sorry about the delay! The map is the 'Outdoor leisure map' 25th anniversary, its scale is 1:25000 or 2.5inch to 1 mile it comes as 2 seperate maps and is blue in colour I got mine from Corkhills petrol garage on the main road Douglas-Onchan near the CoOp, go reverse direction from grandstand stay on the main road and its at the roundabout on the left, that is of course past Govenors bridge, most place will sell it and I find it much better than OS maps. price £7 isbn 0-90486-954-7...very sorry once again for my slow response.

Dave,
Surely that is an OS map, just at 1:25000 scale rather than the 1:50000 that most people think of, and commonly use, as a OS map?

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
