Tyres Bought
Thanks for all the help and advice. After Days of research! and umming and aaring I have found and bought 5 of these

Tyre Continental LDR+ 7.5R16 121/120L 12 PR, TT, M+S - Tyre Leader

Vass did not return my call!

disappointment with Tyreleader
Well what a b*ll ache, I dont know if anyone here has dealt with tyreleader but they have cancelled my order twice! They say the tyres are out of stock even though the website shows plenty of stock I await my second credit card refund and now I am stumped. I cannot find the same tyre locally. I am not impressed, the reviews for the company are varied but I will be leaving a negative review and will have to try elsewhere...meanwhile I have to drive with no spare!

Any suggestions regarding alternative tyres 7.50 x 16 or 235/85r16 would be ok I need a load rating of 120 and I don't want a mud tyre.

I have now bought General grabber TR tyres £480 for 5 235/8516 120/116 load rating which gives me 1400kg per tyre. I was misinformed about the load rating 120 is for single and the 116 is for dual.

I could not get the continentals anywhere.

I got them locally in the end through Protyre they are national and the service was very good. Ordered at 4.30pm got the the next morning.

I will keep a log of mileage. They have 14mm of tread. and I have noticed an improvement in steering on just a short trip.
Bought new tubes from All terrain tyres not michelin but they seem good quality.

Since you are concerned about the possibility of tyres "perishing" you probably should have taken my advice regarding Michelin XZYs and/or Vrakking Tyre, which have an assortment of all steel tyres in the 32-36" diameter range in 16".
The tyres you have evidently purchased have a weakish 2 or at the most 3 ply polyester sidewall; much less strength than a true truck tyre all steel sidewall. There is an old saying: "you get what you pay for" and I think it is very true with tyres.

I tried Vraking, no xzy and I did not want XZL , The tyres I have bought have 1400kg load rating so we will see how long they last. Maybe I will live to regret my purchase. Apart from XZL what would you recommend? I

Unfortunately the only all steel that Vrakking have are the XZL. . There several mfgs of street oriented all steel 8.25s such as Hankook AH11 (load rating 128, about 1700kg). There are many Chinese copies in 14 ply all steel radial 8.25R16. Be aware that military Iveco 40.10 run 9.00R16 (255/100R16) with even higher load rating, ~36.5".
XZLs aren't "that bad", on my Unimog they lasted about 60,000 mi. Didn't mean to be snarky with the criticism.
