looking for company to build cabin for Merc 1124 4x4
Hi,
Looking for a company to build cabin to go on my Merc 1124 4x4 truck. Want something that is well built and will last but at the same time not looking to take a second mortgage out to finance it. Have been exchanging emails with Ormocar although seems to have gone quiet. Who else should I be looking at. Looking for base cabin including mounting, pass through etc and can see how much of the fit out it makes sense to get from them. I'm UK based but assuming it will be a company in Europe that I get to do it.
Thanks for help.
Cheers Tobias

I would go to one of the big expedition events in Germany and ask around.
People like Unicat do make standard size pods, at a price, but the quality looks to be very good

Hi, yes looking for a proper build from someone who has done a load so has learnt what works and what doesn't. I'm going to show in Germany, looking to have list to focus on, not going to pay Unicat / Action mobil money. Might be great, just not where I want to spend my money. Ormocar seemed to represent a good price point versus experience, looking for other companies to compare.
Thanks for all the advice.

For a UK based solution you could try to engage the chaps at Able they understand the stresses involved and the need for torsion management.
Alternatively, for a company with strong British connections, you could try Arno / Erik at Adventure Trucks. They come over to England to shows a lot and are very open to customer requirements.

You want to look at Twigatravelcars.nl, based in the Netherlands.
They've had a lot of experience both building overland trucks and actually using them. They know the ridiculous amount of wear and tear while travelling beyond the tarmac outside of Europe, and they build accordingly.
Our truck was the owner's personal truck, it just brought us without any mishap across Africa.
The website is in Dutch, but they speak English. Ask for Hein (pronounce 'Hine').
Or, even better, buy our truck and you're ready to go
