Things to look for when buying an old Transalp
Hi!
So I've got the opportunity to purchase a 1993 Transalp with almost 100k on the clock for a pretty reasonable price. But seeing as its apparently had such an active life, what are things to look for if im going to buy it.
I heard something about older TAs using allot of oil, but I've also heard that this is an issue only with the 'Black' engined TAs. any truth in this?
Tires and chain are obvious wear parts and will need to be replaced, another question on that later.
I am aware of the CDI unit placement issue.
What are other (typical) spots you would inspect thoroughly? apart from the usual parts you inspect on a bike.
And then a question about the tires, I still have a set of unused Heidenau K60 scouts intended for a different bike. But if things will go well for this TA Ill fit them to that one instead. The front tires match, but the rear tyre is a 130/80-17, the info I found online is that the TA has a 120/90-17 rear tire, would my 130/80 still fit?
I hope you guys can help me, Id hate for this bike to turn out a lemon :P
Cheers
