XL500R '82 Carb refurb
My recently aquired XL500R had been stored unused since 1996.
It did run but was quite hard to start and ran pretty ruff at part throttle.
I stripped the carb down & gave it a fairly good clean out. It ran better, but still needed part choke for the first few miles. It did idle OK though :confused1: just spat alot on the overrun.
So I bit the bullet and ordered a service kit (£18) & a new anti-stall valve (£12) kit, from NPR.
The service kit contained ALL necessary gaskets, circlips and "O" rings. It had new needle jet & jet needle, float valve, main jet, pilot jet...etc.
So, I re-stripped the carb and fitted all the new bits, and the anti-stall.
Fired her up - and its a different bike runs great so top marks to NRP motorcycle carburettor repair specialist
