Smile HU Victoria Meeting, Oct 24-26 2014

Please note the date change to October 24-26, due to MotoGP changing their Philip Island date.

Last years inaugural event in Cavendish, Victoria, Australia was a huge success, so it's on again!

The venue is VERY small, so we have regretfully decided to LIMIT the number of registrations to 110! If registration is closed, PLEASE do not come anyway, we'll feel really bad turning you away.

So be sure to register EARLY to make sure your spot is locked in!

We will also ensure that food service at the pub is sorted, so there's no waiting this year.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Amenities

Hi everyone.

Just wanted to let you all know that some of the feedback regarding amenities is being looked at. In 2014 we will have two male toilets and four male showers and two female toilets and three female showers all up and running.

Regards,

Shane

Just to give you an idea of what 2013 was like. 2014 will have more of the great stuff:

Bright Adventure film festival

GRANT
Hi my name is Paul Chidgey , I volunteered to work at the HU victoria meeting in August. I just have just come back from the Bright Adventure film festival, I really enjoyed most of it, even as a volunteer. But must say I was a bit pissed of with one person in particular. Myself and daughter did around 6-8 hours on the weekend , from Friday to Sunday, On Saturday night thier was a HU get together , I asked if I could come along, but was asked if I was a member, I did not know about membership as such, I just through it was an excellent sight to gain info on adventure travel etc. I have even brought ALL your DVD, s. ( which I told this particular person) this was held in a public venture , ( but would you show yourselves were you weren't invited) it came across to me it was a real boys club, and if your not a veteran, UNLIKE BEING A REAL VETERAN, then piss off. I will say 98 percent of the volunteers and organizaters were excellent people, but I think that some think its some clickie club , were you need to suck up to get there approval. Welll thats not me , and I dont blow my own trumpet like some.
I know it sounds like l, m having a bitch , well I am , isent what you started about sharing your experiences with others , , helping , giving advice, ( and not being stuck up)

Well I had my say and hope the person of persons involved will read this, and have a good hard look at themselves.

Regards
Paul

Paul, just spotted this, VERY sorry to hear about it (and ticked off about it too ) - absolutely NOT what's supposed to happen, no idea who or why, but that isn't the way we work. We are very much all-inclusive, we don't care who you are or what you ride, or even drive, we're about travel and sharing and connecting with other travellers.

You DO NOT need to be a member to do anything at all with HU, a paid Membership is purely voluntary and only gains you additional privileges on the HUBB, good karma, and our sincere thanks.

Please do note that the Bright Adventure Festival has absolutely NOTHING to do with us- we're friends with Lois and Austin, that's it. So anyone working there was not in any official HU capacity at all.

If you have a name please let me know and I'll have an educational session with him or her .

See you in Victoria,

Send Susan an email, and you can still get a refund (less $10 for handling and PayPal fees) as it's still early, and if you want your t-shirt, we can send it to you!

Just reply to your registration confirmation email and let us know what you want.

Hi guys, I'm currently living in Melbourne before I start an undefined journey from Australia to Portugal with my motorcycle. Unfortunately my bike it's still in Portugal and it won't be here on time for the HU Travellers Meeting, which I'd love to go, so I was wondering if anyone could give me a lift. Obviously I'm willing to share the costs of fuel, food, and a few stubbies for the trouble. Cheers

Gussie Moto, it's on the webpage for the event as always, /events/victoria-2014#schedule

Be sure to look for the "detailed schedule" link at the bottom of the section!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
