Mini-meet Esperance WA 08-12 May 2023 - Cape Arid National Park

So it'll be two years since the last Esperance WA mini-meet and maybe time for another one, and this time the jewel of the South Coast.
  • This will again be a LoooonG mini-meet because, well Esperance is a long way and most people would probably want to make the most of it. So how we got to these dates:
  • school holidays end enf of April
  • we're assuming most people from Perth surrounds and south west would probably take two days to ride down, so that gives them the weekend to ride down and the following weekend to ride back up.
  • Less tourists and locals in the middle of the week and more options

So what's on the cards:
  • being a mini-meet, very informal and no entry fee or registration etc.
  • we will have a few talks at night and see if we can round up some interesting things to discuss. People are welcome to send me topics they would like to see covered if they want
  • some informal sand-riding training in the dunes (or just some fun if you're proficient) - IMO the best place to learn to ride sand is here, where there's nothing to hit and the scenery is great
  • guided tours to some of the better spots, such as a ride along the beach to Mount Arid (28km of bliss), Mount Ragged, Paisley track etc.
  • easier option of camping out at Yokinup Mia Mia or Bellinup, or free camping 12km down Yokinup beach
  • daytrip to Mount Ridley to see the hollow rocks, wave rock and aboriginal rock art
  • visit Stonehenge - 1:1 replica and all intact

Riding will depend on what people want to see and do and the weather

Ample of opportunity for some fishing for those so inclined

So there's also lots of options for routes down and up, e.g. via Balladonia road and homesteads, telegraph track, Fitzgerald NP etc. Opportune time to explore out backroads.

This ride would be more of a planner for people, as Cape Arid is about 120km east of Esperance and the nearest fuel is at Condingup, which is 50km from the park. People who confirm their attendance will get the opportunity to drop off food/supplies in Esperance, which will then be transported out to the park for them. Fuel can be pre-ordered under the same arrangement.
Will also have a few small prizes for people who attend.

But I will need some RSVP please before the end of April so I can organise fuel. reserve some spots etc.

Thanks

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
