HU Germany 16th Meeting 5-8 May 2016
We are pleased to announce the 16th HU Germany meeting will be held 5-8 May, 2016. Great location in a fantastic riding area - Campingplatz Pfrimmtal - 35 km west of the Rhine river, about 50 km south of Mainz, just at the entrance of one of the best riding areas of Germany - the Pfälzer Wald! A proper campground with great facilities - even showers! Jens Ruprecht is hosting this event.
Registration is open now! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/events/germany
Call for Presenters! We're all here to learn, and there's LOTS to learn! We want to do more presentations and seminars - but we need volunteers to give them! Any topic you can contribute having to do with motorcycle travel, maintenance, planning, first aid, GPS, etc, lasting 20 minutes or more, would be great. Please sign up here. Online Registration for Adventure Travel Presenters
A few comments from last year's events:
Jens: 'best organizer of the world's best motorcycle meeting!'
'It was a great meeting and excellent venue. Thanks Jens and everyone else that played a role in putting it together!'
'Thank you for a great meeting.'
'Thanks to Jens and all the friendly people who made it such a gorgeous event! My first time - and hopefully not my last!'

Sofie and I will definitely be there again. We wouldn't want to miss this fantastic event.
And if all goes according to plan we'll just keep heading further east from there until we hit the shores of Lake Baikal.

Sorry I'll miss it. Last year was great. Unfortunately the Schengen zone only allows me 90 days of travel, so I need to use it on my ride north.

It may not effect bona fide travellers, but the Shengen zone is changing rapidly.
At present 6 of the Shengen zone countries have brought in "temporary" border controls until May of this year but the EU powers met yesterday to discuss emergency suspension of the Shengen zone for up to 2 years; I think the outcome of that meeting was that the European Commission was instructed to start planning for implementation.
It would be best to keep an eye on the news from Europe.

Unfortunately our plans have changed and we will not be able to attend the May event (still committed for the October one though).
On the bright side, the reason for this is that circumstances have forced/allowed us to leave 2 weeks earlier than planned and thus be on the road for longer.
Having to miss the HU Meeting seemed like an acceptable compromise.

HU Germany May 2016
I'm planning on being there again. Had a great time there last October. met some really lovely people. Great campsite, great ride outs and excellent presentations.
Well worth the ride from Manchester UK.
Cheers,
Graham

We (my girlfriend and I) will likely be there, never been to one before but it's a couple hours from home and lands right when she's got some holidays. If we're really lucky she will have her bike by then.

Perfect timing - I'll be there!
This is the only weekend in spring and summer that will work for me. Cheers to whoever picked that date! See you there!
Greetings from Cambodia!
p.s. I'll offer to present either my Americas tour 2010 to 2013 on a 1200 GS or about the 2014/15 tour of India on the little KTM 390 Duke

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
