HU Germany Summer 2021 is September 16-19 2021
UPDATE:
The HU Germany Summer Meeting is postponed to September 16-19 2021, as you would expect given the current vaccination progress.
The Autumn Event is cancelled for 2021.
-----------------------------------------
Help us celebrate 20 years of Horizons Unlimited meetings and the 24th HU Germany Travellers Meeting! Hooray Jens! Great location in a fantastic riding area - Campingplatz Pfrimmtal - 35 km west of the Rhine river, about 50 km south of Mainz, just at the entrance of one of the best riding areas of Germany - the Pfälzer Wald! A proper campground with great facilities - even showers! Jens Ruprecht is hosting this event.
"...it was a fantastic weekend and I'll definitely be back again"
UPDATE:We have been communicating with our local organisers and event venues, and monitoring regional and global developments, including travel bans and local restrictions on events. Our fingers have been firmly crossed that a few months of sacrifices would allow us all to get back to 'normal'.
Unfortunately, the worsening COVID-19 situation and outbreaks have slowed down the reopening process, further restricting the numbers of attendees at events and imposing new rules for attendees. Today we've been advised that the campground will only allow 100 people maximum (previously 150). This means that no one will be allowed to just 'show up', and we will be responsible for enforcing security at the gate to turn people away, some of whom may have come a long distance. There will be a maximum of 30-40 people allowed into the presentation barn for slide shows, a maximum of 10 people per firepit, masks worn whenever inside, one person at a time in the washrooms, etc.
The friendly atmosphere that we cherish for HU events will be difficult or impossible to maintain if the organisers have to be the 'police' for the event.
As we consider risks and impacts, we are also aware that the HU demographic skews a wee bit older, and our deepest wish is that your well-being remains intact. Also, we are concerned about our organising team who have to run it and keep people happy AND safe while staying safe themselves. After discussing with our local organizers, past participants and the venue, we've reluctantly concluded it's not possible to hold the event this year. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to postpone HU Germany to September 16-19 2021. Jens and the team are eager to welcome you back!
We appreciate that some of you will have made travel arrangements and incurred other costs, and we hope that you can change those plans. The campground and restaurant will be open, so if you have made reservations you can still visit.
If you want to keep your registration to the new date, we will carry it forward for you. No need to do anything. Many of you will be aware that the income from events helps to fund the website hosting and other fixed costs of keeping Horizons Unlimited going. Carrying your registration forward will help us out a LOT. Thanks!
For refunds, PLEASE REPLY to your original Registration Confirmation email to make it easier for us to find, or if you can't do that, please email a request to: events-c ((a}} horizonsunlimited.com with the subject "Refund for Germany 2020 please".
This may change at any moment, so stay in touch through the HUBB forum or social media. We will be providing updates as needed on the 1st and 15th of every month, OR as needed. Stay updated here on this thread or the overall COVID thread here: https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/covid
Please direct your questions to:events-c ((a}} horizonsunlimited.com
Or post general comments of interest to the event on this thread.
We will send emails announcing changes only to everyone already registered for an event with all needed details.

Jens organises a great event. I’ve been a couple of times to the autumn do and have always had a warm welcome and a lot of fun.
So I am hoping to convince my traveling companions to meet me there this spring and to use the event as a jumping off point for our spring/summer tour into Asia on our old BMW Airheads.

HU Germany May 2020 - Who's going?
Hi
I am registered and paid up for the above meet and will be traveling from Ireland , through England, and onto the event. I plan a reasonably leisurely trip down to Germany and will be going solo. If anyone is making the trip and wants to meet up let me know. I can go via Calais or Hull depending. If this isn't the correct place to post this, apologies and some guidance would be helpful

HU Germany Summer now July 30 - August 2, 2020
ALL POSTPONED TO 2021!!!
As we tend to do on adventures, we have encountered unanticipated detours and uncertainties this year. Some re-routing is needed in order to find a new path forward. We understand that you may be wondering whether the event is going ahead as planned, and how that may affect your own travel decisions.
We have been communicating with our local organisers and event venues, and monitoring regional and global developments, including travel bans and local restrictions on events. We hope that the corona-virus situation is under control before June, but it might not be.
We are also aware that the HU demographic skews a wee bit older, and our deepest wish is that your well-being remains intact. We also are very aware that the small communities our events are held in have very limited medical resources, and we don't want to bring the virus to them with a large group of people from all over the world. Thus we have made the difficult decision to postpone. We are postponing until July 30 - August 2, 2020. NOTE that this date IS subject to change.
We will be monitoring the situation, and will absolutely err on the side of caution.
And of course don't forget the Autumn Event: October 29 - November 1 2020.
The 2021 Date is confirmed: 13-16 May 2021 We appreciate that some of you will have made travel arrangements and incurred other costs, and we hope that you can change those plans.
If you want to keep your registration to the new date, we will carry it forward for you. No need to do anything. Carrying your registration forward will help us out a LOT. Thanks!
If you need a refund, we will provide it as soon as possible, but please be patient. For refunds, PLEASE REPLY to your original Registration Confirmation email to make it easier for us to find. Thanks for your understanding in this difficult time. Positive outcomes grow from staying true to what makes the global HU community special: inspiration, information, and connection through shared experiences, tolerance, and mutual kindness. Please continue to listen to and follow the advice of your local and national health authorities. Stay healthy so that we can all catch up later.
Remember that worrying does lower your immune system, so don't binge on news. (yes we struggle with that one too!) And most importantly - take care of yourself and your loved ones!
Virtual hugs from Jens, Grant and Susan and all the HU family

UPDATE sent to all registered attendees of Germany Summer 2020 Meeting:
Hi everyone,
We were hoping to not have to write this letter.
We have been communicating with our local organisers and event venues, and monitoring regional and global developments, including travel bans and local restrictions on events. Our fingers have been firmly crossed that a few months of sacrifices would allow us all to get back to 'normal'.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
