Whats the current status on this meeting? Should I start booking ferries and work holidays? I'm sure I'm not alone in wondering this.
I could do another TomTom Rider presentation, if thats of interest. I've since upgraded to the TomTom Rider 2. Hopefully, by then we'll have some map pages up on the HU website (this functionality is currently in development), and we may even be able to upload the data from your TomTom Rider or Garmin directly to the site.
I had a couple of other ideas for presentations, if anyone is interested in picking up on these.. I know I would be interested in attending these!
- Bike security - a practical demo of how to secure your bike
- Biker First aid
- Bike maintenance on the road (commonly needed maint, tools and techniques)
- Bribe techniques (just kidding, but hey, if anyone has the knowledge, and wants to pass it on!)
Presentatations I'd love to see again
- Roadkill cookout
- Carnets
- lots of others..

Which meeting? Moto Andalucia 2007 is in 2 weeks. All the information is on the website (see link below). HU Spain 2008 is on - we're just debating on the date. I see there's been a couple of suggestions about tagging it onto the HUMM or a trip to Morocco. I'm talking to a couple of people at the moment about Morocco - having the HU meet at the weekend and taking people off-roading, then possibly on to Morocco for a week or so afterwards. HU 2008 WILL take place, we just need to finalise the date.
Presentations - at Moto Andalucia we're having a presentation on 'incident management'. Tim Cullis is doing a presentation about Garmin, so if you can make it, by all means, a TomTom presentation would be good as I know one person attending is a GPS 'virgin'. I'm still looking for somebody who can demonstrate changing a tyre. I really want to keep this year as informal as possible - kind of a 'suck it and see' type event.
Presentations for 2008 are still being arranged as it's still a long way off, but I've already got half a dozen people 'on my list'. Roadkill cookout - can't do it in Spain, there's never any roadkill around - the buzzards carry most things away.
Let's keep this thread alive - I want to know what people are interested in to make it the best event it can be.

I can't do Moto Andalucia because of work commitments, unfortunately, but I'll pencil in the 2008 HU meeting. Combining it with the HUMM is a nice idea. I missed this year's HUMM because of work too, so I'll be keen to try it next year.

Hi, I'm new to the HUMM, but could you pencil me in for the 2008 meet. After a couple of trips in Holland, Germany and a great week in the French Alps i'm eager to undertake more trips/adventures. Look forward to meeting you folks and learning from your experiences. By the way,I have voted for September.
Regards

Hi from northern Spain (oops Catalunya).
I am up for this meeting this year and especially like the idea of a Morrocco trip afterwards, would be better around the first 2 weeks of september because of kids etc. Hope it will happen and keep the info coming

I'm up for this.
I read in a bike magazine here that there's an off-road route (joining up lots of others) from Barcelona to Madrid. Does anyone know if this is true? I don't have the magazine any more unfortunately.
I wonder if it's possible to try and get some off-roading (trail) from Barcelona down to the south. If anyone's interested, coming from the north? Plenty of time to plan a route.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
