Calgary Community Breakfast Meeting
This continuous cold snap is taking a bit of a toll. It would be nice to get together and hear stories of motorcycle journeys to far away (warm) places.
If you can make it to breakfast in Bragg Creek on Sunday, March 6, let me know (replying to this post, sending a PM or an e-mail) and I'll make the reservations.

Hi Colebatch,
It would be great to get together as I've been using some of your advice for planning our next overland trip. (From Germany across Russia to Japan and back via India...)
I'll PM you for more details...

Hey Nevil,
Sorry about missing breakfast. Are you a member of the Horizons Unlimited community? I usually send out a note to the HU Calgary, Didsbury and Red Deer communities about the breakfast. If you join you'll get an e-mail when we go for breakfast.
We'll have a get together some time in May for Jordan and Sandra's send off and then Stephen Golub in Red Deer hosts a breakfast at his house some time in June. They're usually pretty random so joining the community is probably the easiest way to ensure you get the notice.
Shame about the heavy snowfall warning this weekend otherwise it might have been nice enough to get the bike out to Canmore.

I rode my V-Strom yesterday... for 15 feet onto a trailer. Now it's at WalMart -- I mean, Blackfoot -- to get a nice service and clutch repair. I'll be riding soon! Still haven't sold the KLR yet, but I'm getting a bunch of calls.

Sorry to hear you"re going to part with the 'lil donkey Jeremy. There's something conforting (and humorous) listening to that mighty single thumping it's way up a hill. :-)
It was nice to see you again at the breakfast in Bragg. I'm hoping that the next one a guy better be able to ride to!
suerte,
Craig

Hi Ekke,
Not sure if I'm a member of the HU community or not really. I know it sounds daft but aside from joining the website and paying dues last year at Nakusp is there anything else I should be signing up for?
You're right about the snow! At least i spent part of yesterday tinkering with the GS and plugging it in to the battery conditioner. It started first time and it felt great to roll it out onto the driveway, tweak the throttle and dream of snow melt!
I also bumped into Cory Hanson (Terranova expedition) yesterday on his GS 800 at Wendy's in Canmore. He was literally 1 hour away from home (Calgary) after 6 months on the road to/from Panama. Complete coincidence!
Hope you're well Ekke & Jeremy,
We should do a Canmore breakfast at some point?
Regards
Nevil

Link on the left...
Hi Nevil,
On the left side of the screen is a heading that says "Community". Just click on the "Join a community" link and you'll be taken to a list of communities. Scroll down to Canada and join the Banff or Calgary community. I don't know if you can join both but it can't hurt to try.
Wow, pretty dicey riding this time of year. Did Cory come across from the coast? I just checked the Drive BC website and I guess the roads don't look too bad...

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
