I'm In

I'm signing up now. I started a 6 month trip from Texas to Alaska to San Diego in April. I'm currently in Jasper Alberta on my way up and will start on my way south to make this meeting. It's been in my plans all along, just had to make sure my schedule held up. I'm 8,000 miles in on this trip on my V-Strom which is most of the riding I've ever done, looking forward to meeting more riders and learn all that I can for when I keep going south

If you're short for volunteer help or presentations let me know. I won't need to tear out on Sunday if things get tight then. Looking forward to it!

Brian

Are you looking for a highlight of my travels so far or are you trying to fill in other areas. One idea I had is dealing with pictures on the road - taking them, organizing, picking what to share, cleaning them up, sharing, and the part I need to catch up on backing up. Would that be of more interest?

I've registered and am looking forward to my first HU Travellers Meeting. Likely leave early from Port Coquitlam, BC on August 11th for Kelowna and then on to Nakusp on the 12th.

Look forward to the meeting everyone there and learning lots more during the event.

Cheers,

John

Pics on the road sounds good - always a subject of interest to people. Highlights is good too! You have about 45 minutes in one slot - so think about how long you need. You could do 20-25 minutes each, or do two 45 minute presentations if you like. Start by putting it together and get a sense of how long it takes, and let me know. I look forward to it!

Silly question, but are most people going to be camping onsite?

Will be registering soon.

Camping for sure

Yes, most people camp on site. This is where all the action will be for talking to people and it is right beside the hall where the presentations and dinners will be. Since the cost of registration includes the camping fee you might as well take advantage of it. There are a number of hotels in Nakusp should you want to go that route too. See you there!

I'm planning to leave on the morning of the 11th and take HWY 3 & 6 .... likely stop overnight in Midway, BC That's about 450 Klm from the Lower Mainland so a nice campsite by the Kettle River should look good by then.

Anyone else decided to go this way?

Hi John,
Thomas & I may be hooking up to leave East Vancouver together as well. We haven't discussed a particular route; however I was thinking doing Hwy 3, 97 and then across on 6. Where are you located specifically?

Hi Daryl, I'm in Port Coquitlam so I'll head out via the Lougheed Hwy East, over the Golden Ears Bridge on to 200th st, Langley and pick up the Trans Canada heading east from there. Depending on departure times for you and Thomas I'd be pleased to share the ride with both of you. If you also are interested in camping in Midway I'd suggest you call or email the campground I mentioned in the other posting and reserve a campsite (I did for me just to be safe).

Meal Plan Planning

It looks like the different meetings are organized a bit differently. For the California, you can pay for a food package that covers all day. Since it looks like you can only pay for dinners at the Nakusp meeting, the question is: Are the evening meals the only ones yo can pre-pay? i.e. Is that a bring-your-own breakfast and lunch? (Me, I'd pay for any and all meals furnished!) Thanks.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
