I'm trying to find out if you are allowed fires to cook on at the Virginia event. Cooking stoves?

There are a few picnic tables and I have seen people use stoves for meal preparation.
Hope this helps.

I was really looking forward to attending this, until I saw that no pets are allowed, so now I don't plan to attend.
I hope that you will pick a different spot next year; surely it would not be difficult to find a campground that allows pets, since almost all of them do.
And yes, I saw that the campground "across the lake" allows dogs, but staying in a different place would defeat the whole purpose of going, which would be to hang around and meet people.

UPDATE:We know you are wondering whether Horizons Unlimited events are going ahead as planned, and how that may affect your own travel decisions. Your health and well-being are our top priorities, so please take care of yourself and your family.
We are working with our local organising teams and event venues, and monitoring regional and global developments, including travel bans and restrictions on events. Decisions will be made together with the local organising team and announced as far in advance as possible.
This event is POSTPONED to 27-30 August, as the Camp is CLOSING completely for all APRIL and possibly longer.
This date may still change at any moment, so please stay in touch through the HUBB forum or social media. We will be providing updates on the 1st and 15th of every month, OR as needed. Stay updated here: https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/covid
Please direct your questions to: events-c@horizonsunlimited.com
Or post general comments of interest to the event on this thread.
We will send emails announcing changes only to everyone already registered for an event with all needed details.
As Virginia is already postponed, we will include information on what your options are for your registration.
thanks for your understanding in this difficult time.
Grant and Susan

HU Virginia POSTPONED to Apr 22-25, 2021
Hi everyone,
We were hoping to not have to do this. Since mid-March, our fingers have been firmly crossed that a few months of sacrifices would allow us all to get back to 'normal'.
We have been communicating with our local organizers and event venues, and monitoring regional and global developments, including travel bans and local restrictions on events.
Unfortunately, with less than 2 months to go for Virginia, COVID numbers are going in the wrong direction. The US / Canada border remains closed. The 4-H camp is accepting small groups (<50) at this point, in accordance with Virginia state regulations, but no meal service.
As we consider risks and impacts, we are aware that the HU demographic skews a wee bit older, and our deepest wish is that your well-being remains intact. We are concerned that the small communities our events are held in have very limited medical resources, and we don't want to bring the virus to them with a large group of people from all over the world.
Last, and certainly not least, we are concerned about our organizing team who have to run it and keep people happy AND safe while staying safe themselves.
After discussing with our local organizers and the venue, we've reluctantly concluded it's not possible to hold the event this year. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to POSTPONE HU Virginia to April 22-25 2021. The Team is eager to welcome you back NEXT year!
We appreciate that some of you will have made travel arrangements and incurred other costs, and we hope that you can change those plans.
If you want to keep your registration to the new date, we will carry it forward for you. No need to do anything. Many of you will be aware that the income from events helps to fund the website hosting and other fixed costs of keeping Horizons Unlimited going. Carrying your registration forward will help us out a LOT. Thanks!
For refunds, PLEASE REPLY to your original Registration Confirmation email to make it easier for us to find, or if you can't do that, please email a request to: events-c@horizonsunlimited.com with a subject of Refund Virginia 2020
Thanks for your understanding in this difficult time. Positive outcomes grow from staying true to what makes the global HU community special: inspiration, information, and connection through shared experiences, tolerance, and mutual kindness. Please continue to listen to and follow the advice of your local health authorities. Stay healthy so that we can all catch up later.
Enjoy the summer, ride out and find adventures in your own backyard! Take lots of pics and plan to tell some new stories at HU Virginia 2021.
This is what Grant will be doing, exploring BC - what will YOU be doing?
Virtual hugs from Grant and Susan at HU, Steve, Jim and Linda in Virginia, and all the HU family,

January 8 2021 UPDATE!
Hi everyone,
We hope you are well and safe!
As we have been doing for almost a year now, we have continued to communicate with our local organizers and event venues, and monitoring regional and global developments, including travel bans and local restrictions on events.
Everyone is excited about the Covid vaccines, and hopeful that they will allow a return to a connected world at some point. Although distribution has begun, realistically it will be many months before enough of us have been vaccinated to allow all of us to feel safe to congregate in numbers again.
We want to have the safest experience possible for all, and with the current rate of vaccine rollout - as of January 8 2021 - we're not comfortable with the April 2021 date, so we are moving it (hopefully for the last time!) to a date we hope will allow enough time for vaccinations to be more comprehensive. The Team is eager to welcome you back September 30 to October 3, 2021!
Thanks!
Those of you who had previously registered as PRESENTERS will also be contacted by Linda to see if you can still appear. Anyone else who would like to present is encouraged to fill out the presenter application on the HU Virginia website. We'd love to have you help us make this Travellers Meeting one to remember - in a good way!
For refunds, PLEASE REPLY to your original Registration Confirmation email to make it easier for us to find, or if you can't do that, please email a request to: events-c {a ] horizonsunlimited.com with a subject of Refund Virginia 2021.

As a Scotsman I appreciate the kilt, wonder if Klim have that in their catalogue? Stay safe and be kind and I hope all my friends in beautiful Canada, US and Mexico stay safe and well.
Kind regards.

New to Horizons Unlimited?
New to motorcycle travelling? New to the HU site? Confused? Too many options? It's really very simple - just 4 easy steps!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
