I'm going to register right now.
If all goes according to plan, I'll be leaving the meeting on my Yammie WR250 to head for Jellico, TN and the TAT.
I may exit the TAT somewhere in OK to head for my parent's house near Dallas to store my bike for a little while, or I may just keep going to Oregon depending on circumstances.
Look forward to seeing folks I met at last year's NC meeting and to meeting new friends, too!
I'm Brad.

Bike Rental Available
Hello , My name is Dan Dickie. Just wanted to let everyone know that we operate GSMmotoRent here in Townsend, TN, about an hour from the Iron Horse campground site of the HU USA East Meeting. We rent out KLR 650's and would provide transportation to and from the Knoxville TN airport to our base to anyone that wants to attend the Meeting. Give us a call if we can help at 865-448-6090, or check site out at GSMmotoRent
Thanks,
Dan

Let's ride to the meeting
I am planning to attend. I will be leaving Philadelphia about mid-day on the 19th, with an overnight stop in the Shenandoah National Park, then on to Stecoah. I would like to meet up with sonmeone to ride with. My plan is not in stone. I would be willing to detour to meet up someplace along the way.

I come from Rockland Co., NY. I have business in Trenton, NJ on the morning of the 19th. I am planning on leaving directly from there; stopping for the night in Senandoah Nat'l Park, then onto Stecoah, NC.
If you have a tentative schedule, I would like to join up, if I can.

2009 Estern U.S. Horizons Unlimited Rally
For the sixth year, Iron Horse Motorcycle lodge has provided the setting for the now-annual Horizons Unlimited Eastern United States Rally. Beautifully located in Stecoah, N.C., the western North Carolina campground hosts international travelers to some of the best riding in the eastern U.S., hospilitality at one of the premier motorcycle campgrounds in the country, and nightly presentations by some of the most veteran motorcycle travelers on the east coast.
On and off rain for the first two days of the rally did very little to discourage the expectations of approximately 50 registered participants, some returning for the fifth and sixth time in the rally's history.
Highlighting the four-day weekend event were Friday evening presentations by south Florida residents Denis and Linda Blaise on five weeks in South Africa, and Ohio-resident David Bowers venture into Canada, the Yukon, Alaska and Prudhoe Bay. Saturday evening was highlighted by a round-table discussion concerning the politics of boarder crossings, followed by Hu Founder Grant Johnson's presentation of he and his wife's round-the-world journey.
While the mission of every HU rally is to provide support and inspiration for a "common community" - that of promoting and showcasing international m/c travel - just as importantly is the encouragement the event provides those considering such a venture. In a sense, outlandish behavior is encouraged and showcased.
Winston-Salem, N.C., resident Hank Marsh may have been the attendee most encouraged, or converted, if you will. Participating in the full three days, Marsh is getting his "affairs in order" anticipating Mexico, Central and South America this fall/winter, 09/010.
Plans for next year's event have not been finalized, only promising the return of the southeast's foremost international m/c touring weekend. Watch HU for rally details and anticipate starting or ending your next global m/c adventure in Stecoah, N.C. with HU.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
