HUMM 2011 - Horizons Unlimited Mountain Madness in the Pyrenees

HUMM 2011 - Horizons Unlimited Mountain Madness

HUMM 2011, July 5-7

This is the 5th Annual Horizons Unlimited Mountain Madness (HUMM) event. A two and a HALF-day, no GPS, ON or OFF-road orienteering event in the eastern Pyrenees of Catalunya, Spain, France and Andorra. Test your map reading and navigation skills, find hidden secrets and enjoy the fabulous riding. The roads are amazing, the scenery is breath-taking, and the people are wonderful - so why not come on down with us in 2011?!

We're back at the Riberies for 2011 on a brand new map, so you know it's going to be fantastic!

See the reviews and comments on the previous events here on the reg page, and here on the HUBB for 2009, and for 2010 here.

See you there!

Oh, Lars and I would sooo love to be there! But we'll be thinking of you when we head down the Dalton Hwy in Alaska going for our Panamerican trip.
But in 2012, we will so be there.

Have a great trip Henriette, we'll miss you both at the HUMM! Be sure to send me an email (for the newsletter) when you head off on your trip, and send us a few words and pics along the way.

HUMM - What's it like?

I rode the HUMM in 2010 as a complete novice to this sort of event. Here are some links to my write up of the whole event in two parts.

If you have any doubts just do it - you won't regret it. Brilliant fun!

I'm coming...

hi, I have just booked my XT660R on HUMM 2011, and it sounds a superb bit of fun.

I am trying to get a team of XT's together...just to show the rest of you what great bikes they are! Yes, you guessed right, I have heard about the HUMM on XT660.com, and this event sounds too temping to turn down....

See you all there!

Richard

I entered HUMM for the first time last year on my own on a 400 KTM - I only met my team mate 10 minutes before the start of the event (an american who rode a 250 Yamaha 700 odd miles from Germany in one day!) - amazing experience, and to top it all we came second overall - Allied Force!

There's no pressure to race (some people just do it for the scenery and 4 course lunches) but if you're even slightly competitive you can go nuts - we did...

So don't let it put you off if you don't have a team, you'll get matched up well if you're honest on your entry form.

Can't wait to see you all next year - Allied Force will be back and first this time (maybe).

Bike Transport London to The 2011 HUMM

Hi..
I am thinking of hiring a LWB transit, to transport 6 bikes and gear down to the 2011 HUMM.
If i find enough takers this should be about £200 per bike, let me know if interested.

Cheers Phin

Portsmouth-Bilbao Return Ferry

I'm looking for two more to fill the cabin, departing on the 3rd July, returning 9th July...only £233 (£117 each way) per person. (Please note...this price is for booking as soon as you can, i.e. now!...the cheaper cabins tend to go first of all...).

pm me if interested. V. good price considering your alternative options of a Channel Crossing, £30 road tolls, two nights out and camping fees, petrol, knackered Knobblies and a squared-off ass....and that's just to get there!

We also have the option of an outward journey Plymouth - Santander, which is 12 hours quicker, £250 each.

HI,
I'm registered for this years HUMM and was just wondering what poeple do about fuel. How do the smaller bikes cope? Do the bigger bikes have to run with full tanks at thye biggining of the day or are there plenty of places to get fuel?

Sorry if this question seams a bit novice but I am a novice .

Best regards Martin

You will hit the pavement on a regular basis throughout the day, and there are petrol stations in many towns, so it's not an insurmountable problem - but you do have to pay attention to it! Fuel is NOT in every little town!

Thanks Grant, that makes sense. One last question then, to make a bike road legal in Spain does it need mirrors? And as long as it is road legal in the UK it will be OK in spain?

Sorry for all the questions.

Martin

You will need at least a left hand side mirror, groups were warned about this a few years back then threatened with a €90 fine if you were seen 'mirrorless' again.
So fit a mirror!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
