Getting bike from NZ to South America

Hi
we are looking at travelling SA Sept 22 for a few months and were wondering about the best way to get the bike from NZ to probably Chilli or Argentina. Dont really want to be months without a bike so wondering if anyone had experience with flights and or shipping - interested in the how and the time frames.
thanks Erin

Happy planning.

Flying will be a lot more predictable on its delivery date than shipping - basically bike can leave on the same date as you. With shipping it goes weeks earlier and arrives ??

Chile has a much better reputation for the ease of release of the bike than Argentina.

I flew mine Sydney- Santiago (via NZ) in 2018 - process was easy and straight forward. Details are in the shipping database.

Before the pandemic, Air NZ would fly widebodies directly into Buenos Aires, so I think it's just a matter of talking to a freight forwarder and paying the money.

Not the same in various aspects however we shipped our vehicle from South America to Australia and back - 55 days there and 47 days back (drop off to pick up).

Be sure to check out the HU Shipping database https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tr...t/shipping.php for a LOT of people's experiences on this and other shipments.
Also, for lots of shipping tips, see Shipping the bike https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ge...pping-the-bike

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
