1st Midlands Micro meet up!!!!Sunday 26th October

Sunday 26th October for the first MIDLANDS MICRO MEET UP.(sorry for the late notice..) Cant really call it a meet as it is really just a ride and a lunch.. but hey it started here http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...ers-sign-37972 but to encourage more people I have started a new thread.

The plan in a nutshell… Meet, ride, lunch with lots of random conversations, ride , go home…

So the plan in detail is a simple one, as the midlands is a large place I propose a two pronged attack. The first part is that for whom ever wants to.. meet up at the Bassets Pole round-a-bout just off the A38 at 0930-1000h either in the pub or McHell across the lot). This is easy to get to from the most of the major routes, and once there starts to get nice.. (okay well maybe not sunny)...

Head off for an hour+ ride up to the Peaks District via some nice little A-roads (A515 type of thing). Ending up at The Old Smithy Cafe in Monyash (it is between Ashbourne and Buxton), Our own FlyingDoctor reports that they have a “great all day breakfast and nice ice creams too”. Hopefully meet up with more of our northern brotheran and sisteran. Have lunch during which we have "very serious discussions" about bikes, trips, future trips, how one by one the penguins pilferedmy sanity, anything really of little to no value, to any one but us.

Then head in some direction for a bit to see some nice roads and nice sights (route to be discussed or argued or randomly chosen at the time). The latter is my preference? Any locals want to play tour guide? Then take the long road back. via anywhere you want.. it is hard to find a road that is not nice up there to head generally home, together or not what ever suits you at the time..
.

It will be a nice slowish ride, the speed will be controlled by the slowest among us (which as I will be two up is likely to be me) and with no dirt, no pressure and no fuss. All HUbbers are and all types of bikes are welcome.:mchap py:

Sounds like fun, I'm a big fan of the roads around there, and I like pubs, and food. Awesome.

Might have to leave the Cub at home for the day if I come down. It's all very well saying, 'the speed will be determined by the slowest of us,' but taking a Cub might be kicking the arse out of it! If I come I am afraid I will be Intruder mounted.

Sounds like a good start. If the weather's OK (yes, I am a fair-weather wimp) I'll see you at Basset's Pole before 10.

Hey Steve, Actually I have no Idea...

Except for Tourrider (who is weather dependant)
I dont know who is meeting me at the Bassets pole roundabout..
SO If every one could replace the ? with the location that they are planning on meeting us that would be most excellent. (for now we will stick to the 2 places i.e. Bassets pole and the old smithy cafe.. )

Me (Xander and Mrs.X) - Bassets pole.. On Black Africa Twin (maybe with either a big silver top box or small black plastic one..). I am tall she is short.. I will have a cup of coffee in hand (probably from McHell)... Of course you dont have to sign up it is just that if we dont know you are coming and your are late we cant wait for you ... So the plan will be to leave as close to 10:00H as possible, so get there before 10 or let us know if you are definitely coming or print out the map... (maybe i should do that myself...)

Tourrider - Bassets Pole (who is weather dependant)

Birdy - ?
MysteryB - Bassets Pole on a 1200GSA (Although on call)
Trophy Dave -?- a maybe, can't be more definate on a red VFR.
Hutch -?
Bodie - Bassets Pole (fighting the good fight against the gremlins)
Hoolie - (fuel dependant)
Jaber +2 T hills - ( Bassets Pole)
Any one else???

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
