Northern meet, in rufty tufty land, in winter,
Who turns up?
Loads of southerners, a harley rider that actually has seen weather, A fat bloke (sorry bri) who can ride an enduro bike faster than I have ever seen on the back wheel, brighty on his prehistoric ta600 and various other waifs and strays.

What a mix. Don't you just love bikers!!!!!

Fantastic. Looking forward to it.

I'm in. Late October would be best for me. No preference to venue, as I don't know where either is!

Excellent idea - count us in. November better for us but we'll be there whenever it is. Both locations have lovely . Dog poo was an issue for campers at Cropton last time but if it's in November it'll be frozen and shouldn't cause a problem! Tan Hill has option of bunk house for those who don't want to camp. Where ever it is, we can be sure that it'll be a good weekend, looking forward to it already.

I thought the issue's where me leaving a bike in the forest overnight and then returning a bike three hours after promised.

Hopefully I will be there on the new all singing all dancing Bilge pump, a new venue would be nice to try out but I will go any where anytime except Dent. I cant get in the last week of October and start of first week in November cos me and helen will be on the bike over in Germany. Be great to see everyone again though as I missed ripley this year .

Exclamation 15/16 November at Tan Hill

I propose 15/16 November at Tan Hill (for those who have never been: Yorkshire Dales Accommodation - Swaledale - Arkengarthdale - Tan Hill Inn - Ensuite Bedrooms - Special Breaks - Weddings - Functions - Meals ). This seems to fit most people's schedule.

I do need to call them, but I'd be surprised if camping at that time of the year would be a problem. I recall its 2 quid to camp (donation to mountain rescue), 20ish quid in the bunk house or sleeping in the bar and they have proper B and B accomodatiuon too. Please book your own B and B with them directly, if you want it.

The food and drink is excellent, the landlady swears a lot and you will probably have to climb over sheep to get in and out of the bar.

If you've never been to a Northern Mini meet, please be advised, nothing is formally organised. We arrive, eat, drink, ride bikes, talk bollocks in whatever proportion you want and leave again. No slide shows, no how to change tyre lessons, certainly no yoga classes, nor talks on why you chose a certain bike/tent/stove to cross Africa.

Will however burn an effigy of Charlie Boring.

Please reply here if you are coming.

Your humble serf,
Chris

I've have a few ex girlfriends who parting line was that was all I did (Eats, Shoots and Leaves)

I'll make every attempt to make it along although the Dirt Bike Show is on and a local Timed trial on the Sunday so it might be a flying visit returning North from the great trip South so I will confirm at a later date my arrival and departure.

agree with burning the effigy of the fat one who road with Euan.

Brian Eland.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
