Brighton mini meet (UK) - Friday 9th January 2009

Brighton mini meet - Friday 9th January 2009, 7:30pm onwards at "The Hanover" pub, Queens Park Road, Brighton, BN2 9ZB.

Don't expect anything especially organised, you'll just find a crowd of friendly people, talking trips, exchanging tips (dry out wet boots by boiling pebbles on your petrol stove for 5/10 minutes, drain the water then empty the pebbles into you boots), lot of good yarns, advice on setting up your bike, what to take or rather what not to take and getting out of scrapes.

So weather you're dreaming of taking off or are just missing life on the road, come along as there are plenty of people to lead you astray.

Welcome to The Hanover Pub

All welcome.

Hangover Meeting

I'll get there somehow. It's the day after my birthday. I live a long way off too. Why, it's uphill all the way and there's a road to cross. I'll try and manage that half mile, but ask in advance if they can get their coffee machine working again. Hic! Linzi.

Just call me Cheeky Bastard.

Would any Brighton Hubber be able to provide me with a small space to lay my head on Friday night, and maybe Sat night?

I am getting a ferry from Portsmouth on the Sat or Sun, so wondered if anyone local could put me up.

I am housetrained and mix well with others.

Thanks,

Birdy.

Does the mini meet

extend to Land Rover owners preparing for an overland trip? I am the owner of a Tengai/KLR 1989 650, but am heading off down the west coast of Africa as soon as the carnet arrives in my 1998 110 Defender - within in the next two weeks, I hope...I've been rather urbanized in Beijing for three years, so I am also pretty poor at communicating with people who have not lived in smog and concrete for any period of time (London does not count). Forgive me if I turn up and just grunt but I'll listen intently to any useful tips. Oscarreg

Thanks very much for those places Iain, I will get myself inside one. I may be fairly stupid, but don't think I am quite stupid enough for camping out on the beach at this time of year. Besides my girlfriend may be coming up to see me off, and I think she would rather sleep somewhere with a roof.

Thanks for the offer too Matt, most kind of you. But, as I have already mentioned, the lady might be coming, so we will have to get somewhere in town.

Looking forward to it.

Birdy

A pier ences

Hi Birdy, given that you sometimes sleep under piers, perhaps you could give me some tips on how one also attracts a lady! Always seems to evade me. Linzi.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
