Horizons Unlimited Ireland 2011

We actually pulled it off last year.

So.............back by popular demand!

The Second HORIZONS UNLIMITED IRELAND meeting

in

ENNISKILLEN on 27/29 May 2011.

The event will be at the same excellent location as last year with camping and other facilities second to none.

Want to fuel that nagging dream of travelling on two wheels in Ireland, UK, Europe, Africa, South America, North America, Asia, Australia, the World? Why not come along and listen and talk to the guys and girls who have been there, done it and returned to tell the tale.

Want to meet up with like-minded dreamers who don't think you are crazy to be planning "the big trip"? People who share that dream?

Want to listen and talk to ordinary people who have done extraordinary things? Been to amazing places? Can convince you that you CAN do it too?

Want an excuse for a trip to Ireland?

Want to find out what "mummers" are?

Then you should plan to be there.

We have an ever growing list of presenters to inspire you.

JOE THE CELT (what more can I say?)

SI JOHNSTON (see above)

(the last two observations are for those fortunate enough to have caught Joe and Si last year!)

PADDY TYSON (campaign co-ordinator for MAG and author of "The Hunt for Puerto del Faglioli)

GEOFF HILL ("Way to go" , The road to Gobbler's Knob", "Around Oz on a Triumph"

OISIN HUGHES (you must have read Oisin's blog on UKGSER! Come and listen to the man himself)

DECLAN MCEVOY (An Arctic adventure)

JIM McCAUSLAND (personal safety for motorcycle travellers)

DAVE FLOOKS (Japan, Vietnam, South America)

GRANT AND SUSAN JOHNSON (everywhere!!)

And many more yet to be advised.

If you want to know more about what happens at a Horizon Unlimited meeting check out the Meetings
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/meetings/ webpage.

And to be sure of a place in Enniskillen register at:

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/meetings/Ireland2011

Numbers will be limited this year as we want to ensure the same friendly, laid-back atmosphere as last year. So get your name down now!!

Shouldn't be a problem Merv. We have a separate secure area for 4 wheel vehicles. Put a note on your registration form so we can keep track of numbers.

Hi

A few more presenters (more later!!)

Marc O'Loideoin is setting off today on a wee run down to The Gambia. Africa! On a Gapper! (Irish nickname for a Honda C90....think ..where the engine should be is a ...gap!) He, and a few friends will ride reconditioned and preped C90's all the way down to a hospital in The Gambia. On arrival the bikes, motorcycle clothing, and support vehicle (loaded with spares and medical supplies) will be donated to the hospital. You can find more details on Marc's blog site at Gambia on a Gapper!
Marc will be giving a report on this inspiring charity motorcycle adventure in Enniskillen.

Neil and Helen Laughlin are presently in Katmandu having left Ireland in September 2010 on a Tiger (self-built diesel bike) and a F650GS. Full report on the adventure promised at Enniskillen.

Registered yet?

A question for a wet Friday afternoon!

What would you do if you were 24, didn't have a bike licence, no insurance, no experience and no bike gear?

Ruth Houston had the answer. She headed off to Vietnam , hired a 125cc and rode off down the Ho Chi Min trail to Ho Chi Min city!

Want to hear her story?

It's time you registered for the HU Ireland weekend in Enniskillen on 27/29 May.

Register at:

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/mee...reland2011.php

And remember. Numbers will be restricted this year. So get your name down to be sure of a place.

Difficult question to answer Donal. We had a great first meeting last year with about 130 people attending. Feedback suggested that we should limit the numbers this year to something similar to retain the friendly laid-back atmosphere of the weekend.

At the moment we have about 60 confirmed registrations but I expect that this will increase quickly in the coming weeks.

So, to answer your question, there is no deadline date but there will be a numbers deadline.

Best advice is to get registered as soon as possible!

Sure you know it makes sense!! Just look at the list of people giving talks and practical demonstrations! You are guaranteed to have itchy feet after the weekend. And a lot of information and contacts to help you make it happen!

Sounds great. If I can get the Bantam running reliably I'll try to make it across.

Not sure how Albert (the Bantam) will cope with a camping load (haven't tried yet). Is the Westville hotel within staggering distance of the venue? Any other accomodation available for recommendation? B&Bs etc?

Cheers,

Matt

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
