NEWS - There’s some fantastic news happening on the raffle in aid of ShelterBox. Jill has been beavering away at companies and so far this is just a taste of what’s going to be on the table.

Tucano Urbano have donated 6 jackets, 3 pairs of gloves, a back protector, 4 pairs of shoulder armour and more!

Gloves from Hunter Class Limited Motorbike Accessories:

Gloves from Motus Bike Wear:

Sunglasses from Fatskeleton:

A Bike Cover from HRS Motorcycles:

T-Shirts from Grinfactor Clothing

And every single one of the exhibitors in the Adventure Travel Zone is stumping up a prize for the draw. Fantastic!

That means there will be over 50 prizes on the table. Magic!!!

So you are ready, the draw is going to take place in the Cinema Marquee at 5pm on Saturday! The prizes will all be on display in the HU Store in the courtyard from Thursday lunchtime so do shoot over for a looksee.

And shortly we’ll be announcing something special to do with the HUBB UK and everyone’s efforts to raise money for the excellent and vital work that ShelterBox do. Coming soon…

3 rooms available in the hotel

Just had word from the venue that 3 hotel rooms have just become available (due to some folk working next door at the race circuit not needing them).

If you'd like to snag a little luxury, get in touch with Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel directly on 01332 862409 quoting "HUBB UK" as your reference.

The Dover to Donington Ride with Grant and Susan Johnson

If you are in the SE of England, don’t miss out on the chance to do this!

Grant and Susan Johnson will be arriving into Dover from France on Wednesday the 18th of June. This is your chance to ride with them to Donington.

The Dover to Donington ride is being organised by the July, Simon, Kate and Arun from Moto Adventure Nights and Touratech De. You’ll be joining a bunch of riders over from the mainland – various countries!

Meet at the docks in Dover at 10.30 on the 18th with departure being at 12. Please note. You will need to sign a liability disclaimer before you can join the ride so please allow plenty of time to get there and sign that before departure.

The bonus? You’ll be on site on Wednesday night so you’ll get the pick of the camping spots!

If you’ve not already booked your HUBB UK event pass, don’t forget to do that before June 12th so you snag the last of the discounted passes. Otherwise you can just ride in and pay the on-the-gate pass fee.

There’s more info on the ride on the Dover to Donington Facebook page

First Aid Crew

Hi Everyone,
We need some help please. We are short of 4 people to be on the First Aid Crew. Is anyone coming who is a qualified First Aider or Doc or Nurse please?

The duties are very straight forward. You'll be rota'd on an 'On Call' basis. You'll have a walkie talkie for emergencies - you'll carry this when you are on call. You can basically go anywhere while you are on call.

You'll need to be able to supply a copy/scan of your certificate.

Could I ask anyone who can help to PM me with their email address please. I can answer any questions then. Thanks very much.

Any sessions on Iran/Visa/Guides planned ?

As subject, this would seem to be warming up to a hot topic (well for me and a few others at least).

Hi Bruce,

Graham Field will touch on it a bit in his presentation and Ed March may have stuff to say about Iran in one of his too. That's about it though from memory.

Hi Caps,

Just finished HU Germany on the weekend, and recovering now - Grant still suffering from the cold I shared with him...

Answers are YES you can join and become a Gold Member at the event, YES there will be a few 2015 calendars available, and YES we will also have some extra HUBB t-shirts, I think black synth mostly.

However, if you're not getting there until the 21st, stuff might be sold out already! Let me know what size you want and I'll have one set aside for you, also a calendar.

See you there!
Susan

Thanks

Hi Lilian, I'm going to beat Iain to replying to you He's just putting the finishing touches to them now. Over 150 sessions of presentations to schedule in so its a right old juggle. Having seen the draft from yesterday I know its a cracker! There's some amazing stuff happening again this year - thank you for presenting again!

But the reason I popped up this morning was actually to pass on the news about the Volunteer Rota. Quite a few of the presenters have also volunteered to help out with other things - THANKS very much but that's meant I've needed to hang on with the rotas until we are at this stage with the Schedule. I aim to have them out to everyone on Saturday latest. I hope that's not a chore for anyone. 'Coming soon' as they say

Smile Registration fee credit can be carried forward to another event or 2015.

Hi Nino,

Sorry to hear you won't be joining us. I'm sure you're gutted, but a 4-month contract is hard to turn down!

Officially you're not supposed to sell or transfer passes for the event.

However, for any cancellation, even if it's less than a month before the event, we always offer to credit your registration fee towards any HU meeting this year or next. If your schedule may not allow you to get to one this year in Europe, you could carry it over to HUBB UK 2015.

Hope to see you at an HU event sometime this year or next!

Cheers,
Susan

P.S. I have also written you, so check your e-mail and PMs.

Update on the Presentation schedule

The first draft of the presentation schedule has just been sent round to all presenters for review by Saturday.

Once I've made any amendments based on their feedback I'll be publishing a "final" version (as final as it ever gets anyway) here and on the event page.

Looking forward to unveiling what we have in store for you

Thanks for that, yes I can not make it till the sat and sun, keeping me a t shirt and calendar would be great. If they are a big size then a medium will suffice.
See you there

More great news!

As you’ll know, CCM are joining us for the HUBB UK. The news is that they will have bikes on hand for you to test ride too. Fantastic! They will take small groups out for 20min or so rides.

You’ll need you full license – both parts and of course full riding kit. Talk to them on their stand when you arrive to get booked in!

As CCM are in the Adventure Travel Zone with no vehicle movement, can I ask everyone who take’s ‘em up on this to wheel their test bikes to the edge of the zone please. Only 50m and light bikes so no worries methinks.

The event gets better and better

Rally Raid, long-time exhibitors at the HUBB UK are back again!

If you’ve not linked up with Rally Raid before, this is what they say:

‘Rally Raid Products, known principally for our extensive product range for the popular KTM690 Enduro, including auxiliary fuel tanks, fairings, luggage solutions, billet goods and navigation equipment. Recently additions include an innovative range of products designed to increase range and strength of the Triumph Tiger 800/800XC.

Johns background in engineering, design and development, linked with his passion for motorcycling of all genres has enabled RRP, using their in house CAD design and CNC manufacturing capabilities to develop and build, a range of high-quality parts in conjunction with our small team of test and development partners.

As well as the KTM 690 Enduro and Triumph Tiger 800 being on show at this year’s H.U.B.B. be sure to visit us and see the KTM LC4-50 Project. Starting life as a KTM690 Enduro, now a Dakar Legal 450cc, this bike is set to make the RRP Dakar Dream come true in 2015!’

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
