Another newbie, booked and paid

I'm booked in for Austin's Mini Mondo in October, so this will be a great event to test my camping skills, and pick up lots of tips.

Swampy46 and CCM-Chas, I look forward to meeting you there! There will be LOTS of information and tips to pick up on - the hardest part is picking which of several things going on at once to go to

Thanks for the welcome Grant.
I did Morocco on my Monster last October, staying in hotels, but the thought of tents fills me with dread.
So I've not booked a room at HUBBUK, as my 'challenge' this year is to get to love tents, and Tarps when I'm in the Pyrenees with Austin in October.

Think it's time to make a plan. Will you let an old Yankee come if I bring the wife to keep me out of trouble?

We will be starting out in north Italy in May, travel up eastern Europe then to Finland, back south through Norway and Sweden. I am now thinking this might put us to the UK at about the right time to make the gathering.

We will need to find a place to store our bikes for a few months as they keep making me come back to work. If I can find storage in the UK we will be sure to make it. Any ideas on storage spot most appreciated and I will start working on the details of getting to Baskerville Hall.

Hello to you Grant, looking forward to meeting people that can put aside my worries of going further than Europe. This is the first step I guess.....?

Hi Bob, glad to hear that you are thinking of coming. There are lots of self storage places all around the UK, some are national chains and a lot are local places. I guess the biggest questions is where you would want to store, but I'm sure places would happily store a couple of bikes if drained of fuel.

Here is an example Instant quote

Would be good to see you if you can make it!

Surely someone from one of the bike forums would store them for you for no charge? Maybe ask on Adventure Bike Rider forums or UKGSER etc?

Been working out the details to be able to make it there. As for storage for the bikes we do not need anything fancy, old farm shed would work, just need to be able to get to an airport some how. Will check out the commercial units but some of these get quite costly. Or we could run back to Italy and store there. If you have any ideas on storage drop me a line. Will also put a couple of other posts up as time gets closer.

Road Hog I can put the question out there on a few forums for you. Do you have a specific area of UK in mind? Would Ireland be possible as well for you?

I have an empty garage in South Wales your more than welcome to use.
Cardiff or Bristol are close. London can be reached via the mega bus which is cheap as chips

Thanks everyone for the help on storage. And just a note to anyone interested in traveling the USA and needs a place to store your ride for awhile always have room for one more in the garage.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
