Northern Mini Weekend Meet in April?

In line with the expression of interest at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000054.html for a weekend camping in the North in April, my dates that I could do are:

14 to 17th April (Easter)
or
22/23 April.

On 1/2 and 8/9 April I might be able to make an appearance, but potentially have a clash.

Location: No preference. Suggestions?

Who else is interested?

Saw your post on xrv.org.uk - I could well be interested in a camping weekend in April (1st/2nd coincides with my birthday so I should be able to get the relevant permissions!)

Hi adventure950
22nd April looks good to me. Somewhere in Northumberland/Borders is fine also.

I will check out three venues this weekend and make the best choice I can and post it here. Then if anyone is interested then they can let me know if they are coming. Most pubs like to have an idea of numbers But I would hope to get 8 to 12ish. Does that sound possible - Brad

Hello All

As Soderick points out, 21-23 April is the Tesch weekend, which I'm sure a fair few of us have already booked. Would it not be possible to push this mini meeting back to 28-30 April so that I/we can come?

Regards, Mick

I'm already booked the Bank Hol weekend (29/30/1). I'd prefer to keep this particular northern meet on 22/23 April.

Only a suggestion: As you're in Gloucester, why not organise a "Mini South West Meet" in your part of the world? All you need is a campsite with a pub close by.

I am willing to go with the general consensus of dates but whatever someone proposes it wont fit in with someone else. I am away in scotland on the last weekend in April so it does not fit for me - anyway. But i could still find a pub for the rest of you to attend but would prefer to be able to be there. Or we could stick with 22 April and if it all goes well I would re-organise another Mini Weekend in May or early June ( July i am off to Norway again so could not sort anything then - yet again people tend to be away or busy that time of year) Feedback please as I have already given some provisional dates to a couple of pubs who will get back to me this week.

Atwoke thanks for the help. I had in mind the Rose and Thistle at Alwinton and also two pubs near to Berwick, but am more than open to any suggestions and help you may make as you will know pubs on your side of the hill better than me. Cheers Brad.

Adventure950,

Rose and Thistle is a great place for camping and BBQs! However, last time I've been (few years back), the selection of s was fairly minimalist (definitely no proper ale). Not sure what they offer in terms of grub, might have to be selfsufficient. Might be worth popping in for a swift one?

I'll put a list of possibles together that I know of and check their attitudes towards bikers and groups (ca. 15 peops?).

Hi sorry I have not confirmed a venue yet but the snow has been terrible and so I am using that as an excuse for not getting out into these remote pubs to check things out but for sure I will set something up and if you keep the 22 april in mind as a date then thats as good as it gets. I know for certain that if most people are coming from way down the country I can set up in N yorks at the Blakey Ridge which has a great range of ales a superb setting good food and enough room to take overspill on any number that attend let me know it is one of my favourite venues. Its not up here in the Northumberland countryside but still a fine venue and I have used it several times without any problems. Feedback / Commments would be nice. Take a look here www.lionblakey.co.uk
