How about 4 wheels?
Are 4x4's welcome as well? We will be arriving from Oz around the end of Jan...

Ace day + Russia maps
Thanks Glynn
I hope to be back and, if so, will come along.
I am currently in Moscow for a few weeks but due to return to London a day or so earlier than the meet.
Apart for a few maps of OS or 'Carte Militaire' quality of a few non contentious areas, Russian road network is covered in a series of about 6 or 7 map booklets - or in one bound heavy book for about GBP23. Each booklet is far less than the cost of a pint (in UK anyway!) and they are quite reasonable for itinery planning, showing roads, towns, rails, tracks, even fuel and workshops in remoter parts. No contours and not always highly accurate or up to date though!
If anyone wants a map or more please PM me with your details and which region interests you and I will buy them, carry them back to London and bring them along for you to collect

Sure - but you may have a challenge parking! It's all about adventure travel.

Dont let the parking put you of bringing your 4x4
There is plenty space opposite the cafe up on the pavement off the road no problem
The Ace has had some very busy car days allways some where to park

Bugger - only just seen this. I live about 2 miles from that Ace Cafe. When and where's the next meet-up?

As far as I know there has been no dates released yet for another event at the Ace Cafe. But given the turnout [I hate to say it, but you missed a great day] I think its pretty likely there'll be another.

Yes, it was an excellent event, and very handy for a lot of people!
BUT - won't be another one in 2009 - the Ace is booked solid till 2010 - and we are working on dates for then.
You lot need to come to an HU Mini-meet, either in London or have one wherever you are. There's a lot of them going on round the world, and they always are a great time. So stick your hand up and find a location and set a date, and you can have your own meet!

I did not make it unfortunately, but if you want there is a biker friendly but in the Midlands (about 1/2 to Ripley) called bassets pole that may be interested in hosting a similar event... (although it is not a cool of a place as the ace)

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
