91 kle500 exhaust swap, mileage doubled help plz
Hi,
I swapped the end can from my '91 kle500 with a ktm one, same one as described in many topics on this site.
I seem to get allot less kilometers per liter..
My first ride (I don't have the bike for that long) I got 1:20 l/km, lucky I guess.
I only started to keep track of it because I knew I was going to swap the can and was curious.
The second time, so half pre swap an half after, I got 1:17. Pretty normal I guess.
But the third and fourth time I got 1:10. I had to set it to reserve after only 100km. And it died 44km later. I actually had to get towed and subsequently I had to fill the completely empty tank, and could barely fit 12l in it.
Tho it has to be mentioned the last two tanks were in dire weather conditions, strongest winds this entire year (literally) and going 110km/h on the highway, with tops of 130/140.
Reading the topics pre swap I didn't think it possible for my mileage to drop so dramatically. But this has me perplexed.
I know the wind can have some effect, but this extreme?
What are likely culprits and what should I check?
Tires are worn and so is the chain. But I've only done maybe 350km in total since I started keeping track.
