KLE side panniers
Hello MP.
Have a look at www.flamesonmytank.co.za and have a look at the soft type panniers and their advantages. I use an Ammo box as a top box. Looks crap, but costs only about 15usd and my laptop fits perfectly in there. You cant fit much in the round boxes. Also if I do crash and take it apart, it is cheap to replace. You can also stack 2 if needed.
I am busy molding my own windshield for a 2001 KLE 400. Buy a clear piece of perspex, measure against one of the existing windshield' most centre bolt, drill a hole, bolt the blank piece on the outside of the existing screen. Now carefully heat the sheet with a heat gun used for paint stripping and gently fold the screen to the next nearest hole. Mount that and carry on all the way around. After wards copy the shape of the existing screen on the top and bottom of the blank sheet, and take back to perspex shop for cutting. This should give you quite a decent screen looking like it was factory made, and cost me about 25usd.
I used a 5mm sheet, as I made the screen about 25mm above the mirrors. This is a bit of an over kill for normal riders, but I prefer to keep wind and stones out of my face. 3mm perspex will work a lot easier but will fold over in the wind if it is too large.
I will post some pics if somebody is interested. Not too difficult and looks quite good.
