the K&N Air filter came from Wemoto, they didnt have it in stock but it came to me within the week, it was a bit of a pig to fit as it came with two foam sealing rings and some lube. I already had the airbox appart and luckily I checked the filter once i had it fitted as the sealing rings were not in the right place.
yesterday I took the bike to work and read off some values on the way there.
morning time 10'c temperature or so cruising afr was 13.5 or so
rolling on the throttle in 6th gear was a steady 12.8-13 afr all the way to red line
once warmed up idle was 15-16 afr
so in nice cold dense air afr is about spot on and wont need tweeked.
on my way home from work temperature must have been in the late teens to early twentys...
cruising afr would have been 13..
6th gear roll on test revealed a richer mixture 11.7- 12.5 i can only put this down to temperature as nothing else had changed.
I will experiment next week with holes in the airbox if I get a chance as im going camping this weekend with the bike and i dont really want to mess things up as it is running so well, no flat spots missfiring or anything.
the gauge was only temporarly fitted as it will be shared with a few other bikes and cars. it will hopefully save me money in dyno time over the years.
hopefully this is of use to anyone fitting a pipe and an airfilter fit and forget
bike feels nippy and pulls to 100mph easily, ( on a private runway
)
