Hi to everyone! I owne KLE500 for year and half now. That's model '05. It's nice to finaly find someplace where a man can share some experience and questions !

I've changed original front disc for EBC one, and their disc pads (platinum), I have Motul dot5,1 brake fluid. I did get some improvment but not money worth.
2 kumuya: Do you have pictures of what did you do to raise that rear shock. I'm 194cm high and in desperate need of some solution (especialy for offroad trips). Thanks!

On first page of this topic you have some examples so I will explain again .... where the rear shock is mounted at it's top you should have what is showed in first picture at post no7 in 1st page of this topic .... there you can change the high of your tail if you are not satsfied with it you can do what I did picture no2 I welded an extension hand made and so the rear shock is higher with almoust 10cm than the original and I chosed this solution because on the higher position with the original shock I had problems with it's angle and the spring couldn't be proper installed. but on that position was higher than it is now.
excuse my english but is not my natural language and some technical words I find hard to explain

Thanks for uploading the manual Marlin...that is going to be invaluable over the next couple of months!
I have just become the proud owner of a KLE 500. It is about 10 years old [the A3 I think]. Currently it is off the road awaiting some parts so that I can get it through an MOT and get it back on the road. The bike is in very good condition, its only done 19k miles and seems to have been looked after, but it got stolen and all of the panels were nicked! Hence it has no fairings, headlamp nose-cone or side panels! I had a bit of a shock pricing up new parts...each panel is ~£200 [although they do come painted and with decals]. So my long trawl through breakers yards and e*ay begins! I am planning to get all the bits together then rebuild it with a view to getting it on the road after christmas.
It seems that there is a little KLE community developing here!

Yes I also saw those four holes on top of the rear shock but when I asked my mechanic he told me that unlike that one hole that rear shock i mounted on the other holes don't have reinforcements necessary to hold up shock. So the solution is to weld some extension on the bottom of the shock!
I see you have terrain tires, what's your experience off road now that he's 10cm higher (weight balance)?

intresting opinion .... I never asked a mechanic I just did it on my street or on a friens street .... in that old style - if it fails will be obvious that I missed someting
About off road experience? .... :confused1: small .... but my luck is that Bucharest is a constructin area for some years and we have plenty of bad roads and with cubic stone .... that looks like a motocross circuit but it handels very well a hole in asphalt when you don't expect to meet one .
Leaving the joke ... is ok, I'm also tall so that's why I raise it ... but when you fall ... you can't stop it ... but that's the weight of the bike which kills you ... is hard to keep it straight ... especialy when you get your tires full with mud .... but overall not much diference .... I control it better .... but now I use enduro tires (those in photo)... with cross tires on street is pure suicide I had problems with turns, tram lines and stability. An much off road you can't do with it .... because is heavy and hard to keep and the height don't seem to change this aspect - I was on woods with mud and I managed to keep it but on heels with mud and lots of turns and I managed to fall .
In my opinion it worth the effort to raise it but don't do it too much ... and combine it with softness of rear shock and make it so that on a big shock the chain to be at it's limit not over (avoid to break the chain).

KLE Manual
Hello there guys. Thanks for all the help with the manual. It is a big help. I bought a KLE 400 here in South Africa. Here it is a grey import, so no backup by Kawasaki SA. The manual is a great help, as I will now be doing my own backup. Prefer doing it anyway, as you cannot trust the appy in the workshop to do things right anyway . On a bike this can be disastrous! Remember, the bike shops are not in the business to maintain your bike 100%, otherwise how the hell are they going to make money out of you. Lucky for me the KLE 500 spares are available here and fully interchangeable. I only had one problem so far with the bike. It had a dead spot at about 6000RPM, and felt a little sluggish. Another long time biker helped me assess this, and we found that the rubber hose on the carb shifted, and leked in air before the cylinder head. Easy to fix, and now we are running perfectly again. I suggest we start a new thread with common problems and their fixes. It will assist everybody. Regards

On the money there my friend. Marlin 1894 Cowboy 24" Octagonal blue steel barrel and thumps a 300 grain hand cast lead slug in .45 Long Colt out to 300 yards no problem. Bit of a kick
