KLE 500 to Africa !
I'm going to cross Africa in a Kawasaki KLE 500 2005. Leaving from Tunisia to Cape town by east Africa. Does anyone have any similar experience in a KLE ? I would like to know your experince on this type of trip on this particular bike. It doesn't matter if not Africa, but a similar trip.(I will be leaving Edinburgh to Tunisia, but the African trip start there). Thanks.

KLE500 Trip
Hey Matey,
I have done some long hauls in a KLE500 here in Australia. Good bike for the mid grade roads and even loose gravel in my humble opinion. The only thing would be (you guessed it) a modification to the front forks and the seat. I bought a coleman ATV seat cover that works great and fits perfectly.

I'm curious, are you packing a small Jerry can with you? The distance you can go on a tank is an issue on the KLE, but a small Jerry can can chop the petrol stops in half-
Good luck and try and post some pics!
Joe

Hi Joe,
Many thanks,
Yes I'm planing to modified front/rear suspension as i'm going to have some weight on it, and some other little modifications. By a coincidence I was looking today to get a gel pad for the seat, but the one in your link look pretty interesting. I saw a blog the other day, a guy cross half Africa in a first generation KLE 500, and was very happy with the performance, obviously the miles per gallon was an issue.....a jerry can will be pack ! I'm starting to look for panniers, do you have any ?...I've been even considered to make them myself !
Thanks,
MatPat !!
