here is what i spent all yesterday doing. the pics below are from my mobile phone and the link is from my mate with the drz he has som enice shots there. clutch sensor gave me trouble and good old brian on the ktm by passed the sensor and off i went again. anyone else have this problem before?
ya i must say the kle got realy hammered by me. i didnt spare it over the rocks and bare my lack of skill kept up with the other 2 bike. well didnt get chance try other 2 bikes as neither would prob want the weight of the kle as was the heaviest by 50kg of them all

I also had a problem with the bypass switch on a trip - it jammed when it caught on a rock - luckily a very quick fix!! Thought that it would make for a good immobiliser if you fitted and hid a normal switch to it. Mine is still tied up, following intervention from my side with my Swiss Army knife - suppose I have to tidy it up sometime!!

yep time for crah bars when i get a welder and some time i am going make them up.
well after all the drops i didnt get one scratch or dent so lucky out.
as for the clutch i just pulled the connector out of the clutch lever and bypassed it with a piece of wire.
where does the switch go to in the engine and what is it do? i dotn see much use for it

My understanding is that the switch ensures that the bike will not pull away whilst the sidestand is down. I experienced my problem with the switch in the middle of nowhere, after I had stopped to take a photo. Got back on the bike, sidestand up, into gear and as soon as I twisted the throttle, the bike cut out. Luckily I traced the problem to the switch fairly easily. The attached photo is where it happened, together with a photo of the Baviaanskloof (Valey of the Baboons). I saw in my manual that the switch simply runs to the starter relay. Attached is a copy of the schematic for the switch.

well if the kle doesnt sell before xmas i will fire up the welder. i am looking to buy a newer kle or else just hang on to the one i have if does not sell.
thoes are some nice pics and kle looks like put up a good fight against all the rocks, some similar trails to what i did near home. sadly with new laws wont be able use them any more.

Did you find off road difficult?
ok i will be honest,i have drove a klx250 enduro for few weeks up a field but didnt do much. kle was my first serious off road and with a huge bike i did well i have to say. i think i held up ok as i have seen lot of vids and watched how to ride so that helps, watch the training charlie borman did for the dakar and picked up pointers.
well i am the same, i held the 3 lads up an awful lot but i have to say they were more than willing to teach me and help me out so i got a good group out when i went.
i dont want to hold anyone up either so i dont want large groups either. so if you want to just head and try it we can try over the holidays and see how it goes. there was a gravel pit like a mx track near the hills where i got practice on the day efore some serious hill riding
I'd be well on for that. I mentioned it to one of my mates over the weekend and he wants to come along too. He drives a 400 Transalp and also has no off road experience. I'm going away from the 21st to the 28th but when I'm back we'll have to meet up. Meanwhile I'll check out that Boorman DVD.

it was the race to dakar one boorman did and helped me actualy, must get one fo the DVD's that are sold on the HU shop. ya wouldnt mind seeing an alp 400 they meant be a nice lil bike was looking at them before
Here is the pics of mine, I wont call it off road, just a bad road... well like what Ewan quoted "Bad road are worst the off road". But it was a great fun riding my KLE, and it handle quite well too.
well that is some road there lad,ya kle is well able handle anyting you can throw at it, the only down side is the weight and it getts stuck easy and heavy fecker to pick up
