KLR650C 2000 Parts African Mission Urgent help needed
www.africanodyssey.co.nz
Currently limping across Libya heading for Tunis. Front wheel and fork damaged by reversing blind truck in Egypt. Does anyone know where I can get some parts second hand? Need them urgently as we cross to Italy from Tunis on the 11th of Jan 07.
So close to London the culmination of a cape town to London mission super keen to make it all the way. Need the bike in better shape for Europe, here just limping along on buckled wheel.
Parts Definitely Required, wanting to pick up in Genoa Italy
- Front Brake Disk
- Front Rim 21"
- Front right suspension arm
Possibly wanted but not until I reach London
- Cooling fan
- possibly new radiator
- right rear indicator
Anyone have a parts bike or know where I might get some of these parts?
Thanks for your help

Nic,
I have a KLR650 C5 (2000 reg), and I've spotted a few KLR650 parts over the past few days on www.ebay.co.uk. One seller with parts is "madbike69". He/she may be able to help you, although I suspect that because it's a front-end problem, you'll see less parts available.
If you're really stuck, I could temporarily cannibalise some bike parts for you, as long as you put me back together as good as before in the next few weeks.
Note, I'm assuming you have the KLR650C (European model) rather than the KLR650A (US model), because the front forks are different (38mm for the A, 41 mm for the C).
If I can otherwise help you from here, drop me a mail.
I hope you get sorted out.

Getting it together
Hey Phoenix,
Thanks for your help. I certainly wouldnt have thought to look on www.ebay.de Funnily enough my bike started its life in Denmark before heading to Tanzania and then Cape Town Where I bought it.
Anyway am just trying to peice together what parts I can get to Genoa in time to keep us rolling. We are currently in Tunis so the bike has made it the length of Africa atleast.
Thanks again for your help, greatly appreciated.

Made it
Hey
Made it to London, wheel and fork both held up all the way. Slightly concerning but it seemed to be fine. Have purchased a wheel and forks off ebay.co.uk. So hope to get things back in better order. Cheap too, £26 for the rim, brake disk and tyre, £12 for the forks! Stoked.
Again, thanks for your help.
