Risers or high bend bars?
Hey!
Anyone uses risers or high bend bars oh his KLE 500? I am still looking for something higher than stock bars, because they are to low for my taste when standing.
There are 3 options I thought off:
1. Renthall high bend bars
2. SW-Motech Barback
3. SW-Motech vario barback or Rox risers
My main worry is the length of the stock cables (clutch, choke, throttle) and interference of the handguards with high wind shield at full lock. Anyone has first hand experience with these kinds of things?

I fitted Rox risers to my DRZ S along with Renthal Enduro High bars. The risers took the bars about 2" forward and up. With a little re-routing, all cables, hoses and wiring were sorted; only the speedo cable needed lengthening.
I had to make up brackets to move both the headlight and the dash forward a bit. I "cut and shut" the light bracket and folded up a dash mount.

Renthal Dakar 'High' bars....
They transform most bikes....
If they ain't high enough for you, you can buy extra risers....
Apico make good value and nice looking risers which accommodate most fittings.

Looks like the dakar/enduro high is the way to go. Just have to find a good deal somewhere close to me to avoid high postage costs.
One more thing, any one knows where to get custom cables made cheap? I suspect that with getting a higher bars, I will need a longer clutch, throttle and choke cables.

I've put them on about 6 different bikes.
I've never needed to change cables. I guess it depends though.

Rox risers are quality, the go up and if you want also forward!
That is different than i high handlebar.

fyi, those waffle grips will be waffleless and smooth and starting to split in about 3000 miles.
That what mine did and I had the hard compound. Lovely and grippy for MX/Enduro. Not so great for travelling.

Well 3000 miles is the total I did this year. So if they last the whole season I will be happy. This year I used some cheap soft ones and they were slick in the middle of the summer.

very interested in this Ghosty! Let me know how you go with those bars. I have been thinking about getting them for a few months now. just not sure about cables. good luck!

Yes all plenty long enough would even be ok with a set of risers as well I would have thought

Help needed!
Hello!
I need some with getting my handelbars off. I can't unscrew the four bolts that are on the bar clamps:
While trying to undo them I bent my allen key and a 10 wrench I used as a extension
The bolts are still intact, no damage to the bolt heads. They are not rusted and I sprayed some wd-40 on them.
----------------------------------------
One more thing, did you grind off the control pins or did you drill out the bars? I grinded it down on the left side as it was plastic. On the throttle side it is metal and I am thinking of drilling a hole instead of grinding the pin. Any suggestions?

Okay... Here's what you've got to do.
First thing first. Throw away those chocolate Allen keys. If you want to do DIY on your bike, PLEASE invest a little in some semi-decent tools. cheap tools will ruin everything given half a chance.
Even better, get some Allen extension ends like these.
CR-V 3/8 Drive 9 Piece AF Imperial Hex Allen key Socket Bit Set | eBay
These will be okay for occasional use.
When you have the better allen key, try again... If it looks like the head is going to chew, STOP..
Now, you can try to tap the bolt with a hammer to try and losen any internal thread corrosion. If still no joy, time to get a small propane blow torch for about £10. Heat the clamp and where it screws into (careful where the flame goes etc).
It should budge now.
