GOSH! I'm a fool! I've done it!

I've allways saied that that ike is too much stuff, and I was affraid for affordability but...
GOSH!
I've buyed it: on monday a back Adventure 950 MY 2004 will be parked near my grey Adventure 640 MY '01.
:-|
I don't know why I've done that... I'm scared... that bike seemed to call me "dad"... :-|
:-P
Now... the only model of rear tire 150-70-18 seems to be Pirelli Scorpion
and those are not even close to my humble idea of a dual purpose tyres... :-|
Any suggestion, without taking the risk of riding with tires out of measures of the omologation chart for the 950?

I'm available for long term tyre testing should you be confused in any way, six months should doit I reckon. A second opinion is very important I feel.

I too have a 950 and am using Metz Karoos a 140 on the rear. In Europe is a Karoo 150/18 tho not available in the USA. A 140 Mich Desert works too. Conti TKC 80 in a 140 is available and that is a great dual sport tire. All the above have 21 front sizes. I hope that Conti will come out with a 150/18 soon?? Enjoy that wonderful bike!

Mhhh... in a 140-80-18 format there are the Michelin Baja too that are excellent dual purpose tyres, but...
... here in Europe police is a little concerned with bikes with wrong size of tyres... they often take your bike's homologation sheet and send you to the TUV (here in Italy "Motorizzazione") to a severe inspection of your vehicle... :-/ Very unpolite of them ;-)
Insurance is unpolite too so, if you have an accident with a vehicle not compliant with the homologation sheet, they don't pay for the damages... :-|
BTW Metz Karoos don't give you woobling? I've tested them, but I've found that tyre awfull: over 130 Km/h rear wheel seems soap! :-(

Sorry about the 140 sizes, I did know about Italian laws and forgot. But understand that the Continental Twin Duro TKC 80 is also a 140, I am just hoping they will produce, eventually, a 150 as they make a 150/17 for the BMW GS. As for the Karoos, I am using the 140/18 and the 90/21 and have had no wobble in 600 miles, I intend to wear them out the end of the month on a trip. That Euro 150 model might work better.

Of course it is just an advise... I'll tell you more: here in Italy, in the papers of your bike are stated just the measures... but...
... the real question is: "who makes rear tyres 150-70-18 70V"?
In my Adv 640 M.Y. '01 papers, the measures allowed for tyres are:
front: 90-90-21 54R, 120-70-17 58R
rear: 140-80-18 70R, 150-60-17 66R, 160-60-17 69R, 130-80-18 66R
Anybody knows why KTM, on the Adv 950 M.Y. '04 allows just 90-90-21 54V (front) and 150-70-18 70V (rear)?
In this measures I can't use Michelin Desert-Baja, and is a pity... with those tyres is impossible the easiest off-road! :-/

The Karoo in the 140 wears fast, not sure about the 150 Euro model. The Mich Desert goes 5000Kms and even on much pavement. I have run 3 of them in the past. I don't like the Desert fronts, they wear very uneven, and get hi/lo wear patterns. The Baja is a softer compound and wears faster. I got 7000 Kms on Cont. TKC 80's on a GS ADV. and mostly pavement. A friend got 9000Kms. and we both always are 2-up and luggage. Those miles are on Chinese roads. What I don't know is how well the TKC's do in sand.
