If I can say my part.
I ride a 2001 KTM Adventure
I just finished the Calabogie Enduro ride in Northern Ontario Canada.
I was the only dual sport with road tires out of a field of over 100 hard enduros with full knobbies. I was told at the sign up and sound test that they didn't want to even let my bike on the 300 klm course. They figured I would destroy it, or myself, on the first section, Well...
Amid countless smirks, grins, and a few insults I set off.
Within the first 20 kilometers I passed countless bikes which included DRZ's XR's KTM's YZ's etc etc. No one could believe that a bike that big could go that fast in the woods or up rutted rocky strewn trails. My riding partner was on a KTM exc 400 and couldn't lose me.
After the first day people were coming up to me in utter disbelief, telling me how they couldn't believe that they had been passed on singletrack with a bike that had a fairing, turn signals and street tires! I rode my bike 4.5 hours on the highway each way to get to the event. NO ONE COULD SAY THE SAME. I am not trying to boast about my riding ability, but rather draw attention to a phenomenal bike. This KTM had already done a 2000 klm Enduro race in Australia and I rode it 30000 kilometers from Alice Springs to Bangkok, Across Canada from Vancouver to Toronto, and I commute with it here in Toronto. It is 100 percent stock.
Any questions?
