Ktm dealers in portugal
I am thinking of buying a 690. I live in southwest Portugal. There is a dealer near Portimao, but it has a poor reputation. Does anyone know of a good KTM dealer in this country? The next nearest is not that far south of Lisbon.

The only one I've dealt with is Trasmotos in Chaves, other end of the country. A couple of bikes had issues on a trip earlier this year, the owner was exceptionally helpful and refused payment for his time. It took a bit of trickery to force 10 Euros on him.

Quite the opposite, he spent 20 minutes discussing my bike's issues and also helped another mate with a dead 400EXC. He refused payment from me, so I folded 10 Euros in to the palm of my hand and slipped in to his hand when I shook hands to leave. He was very appreciative of the gesture & returned immediately with 8 of his own leather key rings, one each for everyone in our group even though he only met half the group.

Not wishing to generalise, the Portuguese from north of the Algarve are known to be much friendlier etc.
The Algarve lot aren't that bad. Just don't try to get anything discounted, even slightly.
Portugal's a great place to live, if you've retired. I wouldn't want to try and make a living here, though.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
