what has gone wrong so far with mine: disco 200tdi

quinton hazel water pump, pump wheel secretly separated from axle: result 2 busted head gaskets....the trick, look for belt alligment, if not straight you got an problem...if the belt come off, the fan will go trough radiator!!!!

after the incidents i have installed water temp meter into thermostat housing...if it raises over 88C I pull over and let it idle....

injector seal leaks, cheap to fix...the trick is to apply grase to the injector body to avoid sticking

multiple oil leaks, gues this is normal for landy?

turbo, well white smoke off the exhaust...turbo seals busted, this is normal after 250 000km, turbo last longer if the oil is good quality semisynth. and changed (with filter) every 8000km, if your head gasket has tiny leak you will also experience just little bit off white fumes from exhaust, this is an strong warning sign that little later the gasket will go bust....

othervise....if you traveling for long time with 200tdi, get yourself full engine rebuilt, inclunding tranny and transfer box+ front cardan axle

much more cheaper before you go and saves lot of nerves too...its not nice to have engine problems while waiting to some one fix it with high price...remember one head gasket change on the road will cost the same than full engine rebuilt as DIY

New to Horizons Unlimited?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
